I'm more curious how anyone is going to get this that can't find a Toyota dealership at 8,000 feet! I mean are the techs gonna drive your car over Donner Summit to test the "at High Altitude" portion of the "test for the condition" criteria that Toyota demands? If they do this at normal altitudes (and really what is high altitude? Denver or San Francisco?) Sorry to be so pessimistic but Toyota won't fix anything unless you threaten to park your truck in front of a dealership with a big sign in the bed that could scare off customers. I just had to laugh when I read, "Does the vehicle exhibit a stumble condition at wide open throttle takeoff when operated at high altitude?" No, "This bulletin does NOT apply." So if the customer says it does, do I really want to know that a tech is going to take my truck to 8,000 feet and floor it? :)

We need to wait for Matt to incorporate these changes into 1.05. To the best of my knowledge.

Or have dealer flash and run it without flashing back to an older OVTune.

no, its one or the other. unless you wait until ovtune incorperates the new firmware into his.

they didnt ask about alititude when they did mine, nor did they test drive it. infact they didnt ask me any questions other than how quick can i get there to drop it off.

It's a 800 dollar fix for the computer, does what these tsb's are doing.

Been waiting on this TSB for quite a while. Altitude here is 4500 ft. Brought it into the dealer for this issue as my warranty was expiring and their diagnostics showed that when giving WOT the skid control ecu was limiting power causing the stall. Stoked to bring it in and hopefully resolve this.

Here's the write-up when I brought it in. They pretty much said to turn off traction control.

You are thinking of Shift Sense PRO.

With OVtune, you receive new calibration files for your truck's ECU (and TCU if you have an auto). These new files make changes to fuel, ignition timing, shift routines, VVT, torque calculation, throttle response etc etc etc. You buy the tune kit, receive the files specific to your truck, flash it and go. It's approx $800 after shipping, and does more than address the issues in these Toyota TSBs.

@mesojdm if you just wait for OVTune revision 1.05 it will incorporate all the TSB changes. If you let the dealer flash the TSB you won’t be able to flash 1.04 and will be stuck with stock tune until 1.05 drops.

Same here. I actually went in Thursday to have the tsb-005-18 that was released on 7/9 that addresses the surge ( torque converter locking and unlocking) Done, and wasn’t aware that tsb-0062-18 that was released on 7/17 was out until they finished updating my truck. And yes my truck got both updates. I never experienced the Wide open throttle issue. After my post yesterday I headed out and drove it more and I’m very happy with the results, night and day difference!

Just left the dealership. I gave them the TSB number and explained the symptoms and of course I got "the tech couldn't replicate " excuse. I explained I live an hour from the dealership and work all the time. Their response was they can't just apply a TSB without the truck displaying symptoms.

Sorry to hear bud. Those birds piss me off. You spend $40g on a truck and they cant even keep you happy once they have your money.

Yeah I know what you mean. They said they can't just do it without finding a problem and I said I bet if I came in here and said replace my transmission and slapped down a credit card you would pull the trans no questions asked
