They may have put the same ECU on there, so I'd try a different dealership and get them to show you the tech's print out to verify the updated version.

Are the Toyota techs even aware and have experience driving with the new update? How are they denying some customers the update when they themselves don’t know how the new revision feels? Their baseline of comparison are the shitty tune which is normal to them.

The dealer that did mine only did one other truck and it was the same day. All the techs there were asking about my truck because of the painted interior and they all mentioned that they hope this tsb works because the transmission is the biggest complaint that they get.

This isn't directed at you but as a generalized observation that I think people don't take into consideration. I doubt they are aware. It's not realistic to think that a Toyota tech could be aware of how every single vehicle in their lineup would or should drive. They are aware of Tacoma driveability issues for sure but just because a somewhat obscure TSB came out to address some concerns doesn't mean they are aware of how big of a fix this is to the Tacoma community. For us it's huge, it's the vehicle we own and drive everyday and we are obviously fanatics since we stalk this forum and are given access to things that a normal Tacoma owner wouldn't care much about. I'm sure the Camry community has a group just like us, and the Avalon community, and the Tundra community, Prius, Corolla, Rav4, 4Runner... the list goes on. It's just unrealistic to think that all the techs could be up on all the TSBs that apply to all their models from the day that those TSBs come out. Gotta cut the techs a lot of slack on that one, by the same token, the techs have to not be so close minded to customers asking for updates but then again, I'd be a bit miffed when some geek that obviously knows nothing about how a vehicle works came up to me and told me how to do my job cause they read this and that off of the webz. It's our responsibility to educate the techs to our particular issue in a respectful way and their responsibility to try to listen to things in an open minded way. If they can't do that then find another dealer, if that doesn't work then read a little more and learn how to do it on your own

Went to Leith Toyota Raleigh NC. Took them about two hours, they did give me all the corp stuff about reproducing etc. I told them it doesn't do it all the time and that before I leave I will require them to update to 0058-18 or 0062-18. All in all I am happy. They applied the 0062-18 on a 2018 TRD Offroad under 2000 miles. People there are really nice and easy to deal with. Go see Brandon Hales and Shane Sullivan at Leith Toyota Raleigh NC if your looking for a Toyota!

So I went in on Monday and got the T-SB-0058-18. After driving it this week, I feel like the truck actually drives worse than it did pre-TSB. Before getting the TSB done, I always drove in S mode with the Shift Sense Pro. I would occassionally drive in D but primarily S. This week I have driven it strictly in D and I am not experiencing the overall improvement that most people are. The truck shifts to 4th gear by the time I hit 25mph. I'm in 6th gear by 50mph. I still shifts up and down like before. I would not say that the truck has more power off the line. I almost feel like they didn't update the ECU calibration and it's the same D behavior that I've always had. I ordered a Carista OBD2 Bluetooth adapter and I'm going to use the OBD Fusion App to check the Calibration Version. My gut feeling is that they didn't update the ECU but I want to be sure before going back in.
But I just wanted to check if people are still getting the quick up-shifting that I'm seeing. Maybe it's just me and that's how the truck drives and I should just go back to using the SSP. But claims of people on here saying they previously used SSP and now don't even think about it with the new TSB got me wondering if something is up.

You’d also be crabby about your Camry’s ECU tune if you were battling bladder control issues and arthritis at the same time.

Thank you OP for this post. I took my 16' in and had them do the service. I feel the throttle response is much better. Also the truck seemed to hold the gears longer and shift when it should, I had experienced that "looking for a gear" so many others had talked about. I took off from the dealership like a bat out of hell and it rev'd a bit higher than before but the transition between gears seemed smoother. Service guy scared me when he said it wasn't warranty covered, but then realized its catergorized "emissions" or something and its covered for all trucks up to 80k miles.

Had mine updated this past weekend and gave myself a little time before updating with my experience on the forums.

Feels like a new truck. I’m finally sitting back in my seat, not anticipating when the transmission might decide it wants to shift this time. Also I find I’m leaving the transmission in D all the time. In the past, I was unaware JUST how often I would slap it into S and back.

Overall - I’m a happy camper! Great stuff!

Definitely keep us up to date on your findings!

    Edit:
Brand new 2018 TRD Off Road Double Cab long bed.

I used a OBDII Bluetooth device I got back in 2015 and installed the OBD Fusion app as suggested in this thread.

    Amazon
"BAFX Products Bluetooth Diagnostic OBDII Reader/Scanner for Android Devices"

I used the pic from a couple pages back and have the same info after reading the MODE $09 in OBD Fusion.
The app is 3.99 on Play Store, at least I know I got the 0062-18 update!
Truck is running a lot better, amazing the difference.

I just got mine done and all I can say is it’s about time toyota. I’m very happy with the results but nevertheless I did the ECT mod so that’s how I will continue to roll.

Had mine done here in the Great White North today. Amazing difference. Nearly instantaneous throttle response and downshifts, stays in the powerband, behaves exactly as it should have from day one. And coupled with my 4.88 gears the truck just lunges off the line.
