I have a ‘17 off-road with a late 2016 build date, wasn’t plugged from the factory. It’s easy to check if plugs are present on the lower control arms.

My ‘17 came without plugs. Howled like crazy, only in certain cross-winds. Became much worse after going 1 size larger in tires. Dealer fitted the plugs, and like magic, the noise went away and never came back.

Yea, mine is primarily at lower speeds. Not sure if I have heard it at higher speeds. I tend to just drive the truck like a truck and not expect the same performance or experience as my Lexus.

That doesn't mean though if I notice something that doesn't seem right it doesn't bug me. Like the tranny issue.

For instance, I recently added a K&N intake and a roof top light bar that is mounted to the OEM roof rack. I also have 15k miles on my Ridge Grapplers. Combined, there is a considerable amount of noise. But, at the same time, it is a truck, and when I am using it like a truck is meant to be used, none of that noise exists. Well, maybe the K&N but.......

Good to know, I might need to double check mine again then. Originally my howl was only at 50/51mph and that was it. After my howl T-SB, it's louder and steady from 45-50mph. @Stocklocker what speed was your howl most at?

Back on topic, I'm pretty happy with T-SB 0062-18. Still have a little bit of hunting but overall it seems to be pretty much improved.

Had EG1811 or TSB 0062-18 completed yesterday afternoon, leaving on 3500 mile road trip tomorrow. Will report back on what if any changes are noticed.

Dropped mine off at Mountain States here in Denver yesterday morning. Took a week and half to get a appointment.

Told them rough shifting and handed them the tsb I had printed out.

Four hours later they called and said they performed the tsb but that the tsb was only for low speed wot conditions and were not sure if it would work with my rough shifting.

Truck is much better. Low end tq is noticeably better and seems to shift smoother.

    Worth it.

It is the way it should have been since the beginning! No more hesitation/surge, no more hunting for gears, cruise-control works fine, MPGs up by at least 2!
(...and I live in Houston - not known for its high altitude!)

Update completed and well worth it!
It only shifts down to 4th on the highway if I push it hard enough to warrant the big downshift. I've seen about a 2 mpg increase also!

No problems getting this done from Wolfchase Toyota in Memphis, TN.

While it was there, they also knocked out the blower motor recall and are doing the recall regarding the rear end howl. Waiting on parts, but I am just enjoying the better shifting at the moment and it can howl all it wants to. :)

This is what I like to hear. Just curious. How fast were you going while driving on the highway? Did you hit any hills/inclines that would previously warrant a down shift, while using cruise?

Mine goes into Pedersens up in Fort Collins next week. Hope they don’t give me any grief. But sounds like I could take it to Mountain States if they won’t do the update. Thanks for posting!

I haven't had it on any substantial stretch of interstate where it would normally drive me crazy by downshifting to 4th gear on any slight incline, but I can tell on the 45 mph hilly road I have been taking to work that it is not downshifting so drastically already. If it gets to 6th on the highway, it won't hesitate to go down to 5th, but that takes me to ~2,200 rpms and not 3,000. I can make it drop to 4th if I really need to pick up some speed, but the pedal has to go down much farther than it did before the update.

I did use cruise on some rather flat interstate at ~70mph and didn't experience the big downshift at all.

The big shocker has been the gas mileage increase. I was normally averaging 19 to 19.5. Since the update, I am between 21 to 21.6.
Again, very pleased with the update!
