Yeah. I downloaded the Torque Pro app last night and found the Calibration ID field...but it was blank. Will try the Car Scanner app tonight. Thanks.

1:00 dropped off at the dealer for service and hopefully the latest TSB. service guy quit writing all the issues with the truck I was having about halfway thru the list.. good thing I started with the surge and high altitude fall on it's face...

Had the update last Thursday. Mine is a May 2018 build. Took it on a road trip Monday. My truck is totally different now. Love it!!! I just hope it never reverts back to how it was before the update.

So for anyone who has had the update, are the RPM's lower at highway speeds? I may be crazy, but the PRO I got yesterday seems to have maybe a 100+- rpm's lower than the Sport did at the same speed, say at 70mph.

The calibration ID after either of those updates is the same so there is no way to say it got one over the other. Check it yourself, he may be BSing you.

Maybe so. He probably just didn't want to fix it

I’m voting he probably didn’t want to fix it. Some of these dealers act like the money for the fix is coming straight out of their pockets. The runaround with these TSBs are mind boggling.

He probably wanted to get back to his "Happy Meal" that I was interrupting when the service writer called him to come up and drive my truck with me.

What bothers me is that they were not willing to fix the vibration for the SB-0177-16 because it was a 2018. I told him regardless if there is a TSB or not; It still vibrates bad and getting worse. But to no avail. He said if another truck vibrates then they won't do anything. I said showing me another problem does not make my vibration to not be a problem.

So I walked in the showroom and drove off with a non-vibrating driveline, none surging transmission/engine, no pulling to the right and no buzzy in the steering wheel from the exhaust at 2k rpm.

    FIXED!!!

Understood, but where I differ is I would not have rewarded Toyota with another sale unless the deal greatly benefitted me financially. If you came out OK and are happy then that is really all that matters. I do think Toyota is trying to fix some of these issues but the whole deal about it being normal because other trucks do the same thing is nothing short of stupid. I hope you’re new truck works out for you but it sounds like you need to find another dealer.

After having this other truck, they had the only PRO in town so they gave me a good deal. $3k off. And since I bought the other one I was a repeat customer and gave me a good trade in.

I probably won't go there for service even though it is right by my house. There is another dealer that is close to my work which seems to have a better "rating" on Google.

And, the "being normal" thing is a widely used excuse to not fix things. I had a 2012 BMW M3 and it pulled to the left and wore out the tires and BMW would not fix it after going to two dealers. They said it was aligned and you are good to go.

My rpm's seem crazy low on the hiway. Could just be I'm used to my old 2nd gen. But I don't notice it being any different than pre-Update.

Dealer installed today with no questions asked along with a scheduled service. Kenny Ross Toyota, Moon Township Pa. Only did the 27 mile trip home and had traffic other than my normal commute so it was hard to say "wow" yet, a couple of observations...
    1. Instant throttle response, you push the gas and the truck goes.
    2. Going up a long shallow grade the truck maintained speed in 6th gear and actually was able to accelerate.
    3. Got a bit excited and over did it, it shifted to 5th, apon cresting the hill I thought about letting off the gas and it went back into 6th.

gonna drive for a bit and get some OVTune next

Mine goes in tomorrow for its 30k mile service. This and about 17 other items hopefully get addressed on my truck. We will see. I'm half expecting them to try and sell me a new one as this is getting silly. I like the truck, but between this truck and my FJ that had even worse problems, i'm not exactly a Toyota fanboy.

It's never broken done or left me stranded, but it is getting exhausting trying to keep a running list of issues.
