    Physical damage to the tanks of some type?

    I've never liked how low the radiator hung on my first gen in the stock configuration. Does this help with that at all?

    I just read somewhere on here the other day that som guys use a 2wd radiator in the 4wd Tacoma’s because they do not hang down so far

    The top of the radiator is made of plastic and they crack for whatever reason, I've had 3 crack on me over the years, it's just a bad design by Toyota probably to cut on costs

    Question was to OP who said he had to replace every 6 months. That's not normal.

    I'm not a particular fan of plastic tanks, but they've been around for decades and under normal use, most last at least 90-100k.

    Got that, to that end the Champion "hangs down" 4" less than the PR/4wd auto trans app and around 2" less than the man trans version. Am I missing something?

    I don't think there is a comparison if you look at the math. The stock radiator is only 1" thick with one core row and the champion is 2" thick I believe with 3 cores. Even though it's a bit smaller it covers
    probably 70 percent more surface area roughly because of its 2" depth not adding the 2 additional core surface area.
    OEM Large version 22x25x1= 550. One row
    CHAMPION. 18.8x25x2= 940. Three row
    I think this math is correct

    Yeah, I realize that it'll be beneficial being larger. But is also may hinder cooling (say crawling,) when the clutch fan is trying to pull decent air through while it's seeing increased air resistance through a thicker rad when going such a slow speed like 1 MPH while hitting 3000 RPM's. That's what I'm curious about...

    This, to me is a concern. However, I feel like the stock fan, with shroud would be able to handle it. Myself, I would prefer a "2 row core".

    Haaaa, so the CC1998 4runner Radiator will not fit into the Tacoma even if you remove the hood rod support?
    You still need to have the inlet and outlet and filler sections moved??
    The inlet and outlet look like they line up but the filler is in a different area.

    The hood support rod is not the issue. The hood supports on the bottom of the hoods are what contact the top of the radiator cap.

    It would close, but you could tell there was pressure on the cap. Also, the inside edge of the hood rubbed the top, front edge of the radiator. In the year or so I had it, it was not an issue. However, I'm sure it's not something you want over the long haul.

    Not exactly wanting to drop over $200 and break it after a couple wheeling trips
