I want to find out how good a quality these grilles are. $50 versus $275 from the dealer is a HUGE price difference.

honestly, no idea...sorry man...i mean they paint a whole car for 300 bucks but they might come back with something crazy. I know they used to use single stage paint also on the 300 dollar paint jobs so they'd hike up the price on 2 stage jobs.

I brought my grill to the dealer for a painting estimate. They said they'd color match it for $100.00. I'll probably take it apart and let them do it. Can you give some detailed info on taking the grill apart and putting it back together? Thanks.

2 bolts at the top, 2 plastic retainers on the headlights...remove and pull up grill. make sure to be easy and not break the tabs on the bottom.

You'd probably come out better if you bought a color matched grill from trd parts and sold your grill on ebay. If they made the trd sport or xrunner in your color.

Thanks, but I have taken the grill out. I'm asking about melting the tabs and splitting the grill into two pieces. It looks like that what you did in the pictures. That is the route i would like to go so the paint does not run into the 2 triangles. My truck is Impulse red and they do not make the grill in that color. Thanks,
    Dave

i didn't take mine apart in 2 pieces...if the 100 included prep work then they should prep and tape everything up for you. I taped mine off and hated every minute of it.

If anyone is looking to trade A Chrome Grey Grill for a Chrome/black grill, let me know.

I have a 07 Chrome/Black grill. I have indigo ink, i think the grey would look nicer.

I went to two body shops and they said they wouldn't paint a chrome grill. As stated before they said long term the paint won't last. They suggested a plain plastic grill for about $200, but for $220 i can get a color matched from the dealer.

I recently painted mine with Duplicolor Perfect Match, and the color is really close!
I didn't do a good job with the actual painting, and will be re-doing it, (hopefully this weekend), but i recomend using this paint if you are going to attempt to paint it yourself, and do not have access to a paint gun.

I sanded it down, them primered it with Krylon primer, then painted with Duplicolor Perfect Match, then cleared it with Krylon clear. Was around $10 - $15 in supplies and after i re-do it, it will look great (although it doesn't look bad now, i'm just anal)
