To start off I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD-Offroad has 22K miles and I am the original owner bought March 13, 2017. I originally took it in for the 20K service back in Feb. 2018 and let the service advisor know that I was hearing a squeak in the rear end and she let me know that there was a TSB and that she would have the tech check it out, about 6 hours later I get a call and they let me know that the 20k service and the silencer pads were done and my truck was ready to pick up. I picked it up excited that the embarrassing squeak was fixed, drove it home parked it. within a couple days the squeak was back and was worse.

I got busy with work and just ignored it for the time being, fast forward to 4/11/2018, I made an appointment and dropped it off again, this time I told the Service manager there was a squeak in the rear end and there was a clunk in the front end as well any time the suspension would flex, i.e. speed bumps, drive ways with harsh entrances. to me it almost felt as if it was hitting a bump stop or just bottoming out.

Fast forward about 3 hrs the service manager calls me back and asks if I would come ride with the tech and explain to him what I am hearing, so I did and the of course the squeak in the rear end wasn't as prevalent as it normally was but could faintly hear it, however the clunk in the front noise happened perfectly and the tech was like oh yea i can defiantly hear that! This was on a Wednesday, the advisor calls me back on Friday and said that they opened a case with Toyota and they have suggested to change out body mounts, and that they should be there Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. She calls me Tuesday morning and says that the body mounts did not fix all the issues and Toyota suggested getting a new truck off the lot and start exchanging parts. So finally she calls me yesterday 4/19/2018 at 1 PM and says my truck is ready and to come pick it up, I got up there and everyone was like OOOOHHHH your the guy with the orange Tacoma that no one could figure out what was wrong with it........check the pics below for the parts list of what they changed, I am not convinced it fixed everything, as I'm pretty sure I still hear the squeak in the rear, and her story just says replaced from body mounts, I guess well see today once I go for another drive.

P.S. I was excited to have my truck back I came straight home and washed it!

Not sure its a big enough problem yet for them to do a Lemon or Buyback.

Were they able to tell what caused the clunk noise in the front end?

Do not leave the pavement in a third gen , it will void your warranty.

Looking at the photo posted in the op i think the dealership found the coil to be the cause of the clunk near the lower mount.
