Just saying hello. Im a long time member in T4R.org being i owned 5 4runners prior to buying this Tacoma. I was in need of some change and quite honestly wasn't happy with how Toyota continues to short change technology in the 4Runner. So just saying hello and look forward to being a contributing member of this community!

Awesome man! Looks sweet. I also come from a family of 4 runners. Had a 2014 SR5 and had buyer's remorse the day I bought it. Just picked up a 2017 TRD off road long bed DC and couldn't be happier! Got any mods planned?

No doubt Toyota has become pretty lazy with the 4Runner, Sequouia and the Tundra. The Tacoma still has the record though!

Not really sure. I did a couple minor things as soon as i got it. Crazy little story... i wanted the roof rack on it but the factory wouldn't put the roof rack and running boards on at the factory. A buddy of mine works at the dealership and even called to find out why it wouldn't allow the truck to be built with both. Basically they couldn't give an answer. So i just put the boards on myself. I own a repair shop outside Buffalo, NY so it wasn't a big deal. I know i'm definitely gonna convert the headlights to LED. Not sure why toyota didn't do it considering every other light on the front of the truck is. The other thing id like to do is put a light bar across the roof rack or something. I really like the light bar across the top of the windshield, but don't wanna drill into the "A" pillar to mount the brackets. If you have any suggestions on a light bar, that'd be great. Thanks!

You'll find out soon enough but I'd highly recommend HID's (with harness) in the low beam because the Tacoma has projectors. LED fine for fogs. Opinions differ though...

Lazy is an understatement. I pre-ordered a '17 4runner LTD thinking they might finally add Blind Spot Monitoring, cross traffic alert, better media screen... but when it showed up, it was exactly the same as the '16. I had a '14 Trail premium with KDSS and just couldn't see shelling out that kind of money on an aging platform. So during the Super Bowl this year i was cruising Toyota's website and decided to take a closer look at the Taco. Well i immediately fell in love and went and ordered one the following day.

I appreciate the advice. I was actually wondering about that because of the projectors. I've never converted over ti HID's with a harness. Do you have any advice on exactly what to get to make that happen? Thanks

I sell Toyota's and I told a potential client without any uncertainty Toyota would have BD monitor as an option or standard in the 17. I mean, it's standard in a RAV LTD. right? Great company but I for the life of me can't understand some of the decisions they make or don't make sometimes. I do feel Lexus has something to do with our SUV redesigns because it does reflect on their sales.

I agree completely. The way i was looking at it was, how on earth does a Corolla have more modern tech than the 4Runner!?!?!? So i decided i couldn't spend that kind of money on a vehicle i felt they left behind

I came from 4Runner 2016 trail to my 17 Tacoma. I agree about the 4Runner starting to become a little dated . I had five of them myself . But the Tacoma is kind of feeling left behind as well, I never thought I'd buy a 2017 vehicle with drum brakes. I like the taco , but I wouldn't say it's on the cutting edge of technology. Welcome to TW

Im old school so i actually like the rear drum brakes but i hear ya. I'm just so impressed with the massively over engineered undercarriage of my PRO that i couldn't be happier! I think i've spent more time looking under the truck than i have the outside of it! can't wait to put her in the mud!
