Thanks to everybody that contributed to this thread. Saw some good ideas, and I decided to run separate circuits with dedicated switches. Ugly install - check it out :

Keep in mind I have two separate lighting circuits (one in the cubbies, and one under the bedrails), plus lighted switches (panel on the left), plus a fuse panel. Two extra switches and fuses for future add ins. Plus, I left a lot of slack in the wires in case I want to move the switch/fuse panels (which are Velcro'd to the shell carpet). Also, that vulture's nest includes the 3rd brake light wiring for the shell.

I wanted to have three separate lighting circuits (cubbie retractable spotlights, under the bed rails, and under the tailgate), plus the 4th switch probably for a 12v outlet.

Waking from the dead, worth it for us noobs. I'm going to try to do detachable lights that have coiled (telephone style) cords with magnets to hold the lights in the cubby in postion and so they can be put in other locations that might be needed. Not like I'm some expedition type guy or anything. But I could really use the bed lights for sure.
