My first gun (other than a Crosman bb gun) was an old single-shot Winchester .22, I think it's a model 60. It's a family gun that my great-grandfather purchased during the depression to teach my grandmother how to shoot so she could help put rabbits and squirrels in the stewpot, and since then every member of my family has learned to shoot with it. Whenever someone 'comes of age' and it's time for them to learn how to handle a gun their parents call whoever's got it at the time and it gets exchanged.

Same sort of thing here. My Great-Great Grandfather owned the only General Store in the area in Kentucky, and most people couldn't afford food so he purchased the rifle and would invite everyone over on Sunday to take pop shots at a chicken across the road, a good ways away. Eventually, someone would hit it, and they would make dinner for the entire holler. It was then used by my Great Grandmother to keep foxes and coyotes out of the chicken coop. Passed down to her, then to my Grandfather, who basically made it a safe queen, my dad got it and taught me how to shoot with it. Now I have it, and it goes out every time I do. Still looks brand new.

First post in this thread, with the hope of getting some advice

This past week, I went to a couple of stores/shops, with the intent of buying a handgun that I could easily concealcarry......I came out with a .40 S&W SIG..........not exactly a "small, easily concealable handgun.

The issue is that I am left-handed and apparently there are few to no left handed guns, that are conceal specific......this, according to the Cabella's employee.

My question to you all, mainly the leftys out there......can you recommend a pistol that is easilly concealable, left-handed and prefferably, not larger than a 9mm?

    Thanks in advance.

FNS9c is the same size as an m&p9c, and has left handed mag release and slide stop.

So has anyone here made DIY tannerite?
BS'ing with the county fire marshal this evening and we want to try it, we also found a DIY recipe for C4 but that requires a destructive device permit as it's not a binary explosive.

Not sure how one would "make" it other than buying the two parts separately instead of buying a kit.

I'm not sure what tannerite is made of, only seen it at the store and it looked like it had some type of plastic balls you mixed in to get the reaction when shot?

I know for the DIY you just mix ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder at a 95/5 ratio.

According to google images, ammonium nitrate is ball shaped.

Probably cheaper to buy each in bulk if you want to make your own. nitrate is ~under $1.50 a pound on Amazon and alu powder is ~$10/lb

10lb of tannerite is like $70 Home brew would be like...$20.

The snap cold packs that you "bust" and then they get cold have what you need inside. Just slice the package, and pull out the water bladder. Pour in aluminum....reseal. boom.

Unlike a shotgun or rifle where spent round will be ejecting into your face using the wrong handed version, pistols don't have this issue so...

Any pistol without an external manual safety, or any pistol with an ambidextrous manual safety. Then train yourself to use trigger finger to work the mag release. Using a left handed trigger finger to work a right handed mag release is actually faster than a right handed person adjusting their grip to use their thumb to hit the right handed mag release. Slide stop is of little consideration since most combat training ignores the little slide stop in favor of a more gross motor movement of pulling back and releasing the slide from the rear (easier to do when stressed in combat than to hit a small slide release). You can use your trigger finger to engage the slide stop if you feel the need to lock open the slide without an empty magazine.

The only real drawback to this setup is using your trigger finger for more than one job. Some training mindsets will frown on this. Bad juju to intend to release a mag, only to pop a round off because you pulled the trigger instead. Training can overcome this, but you have to take it into consideration.
