Because they are able to point out the $3800 in suggested maintenance items you need done when you get a state inspection.

My guy at Firestone was a big Toyota fan and drove a lifted Jeep and Landcruiser. When I finished my lift and the SPC UCAs I took it to him after a recommendation of a friend. He just laughed and said give me an hour and I will have it done. He used the LCAs to center the tire in the wheel well and then used the SPC UCAs to give me the camber and caster I needed. I bought the life time alignment and have never regretted it. The manager is a part owner of the Firestone and is an avid Toyota fan also, he promised to always have an alignment guy that does lifted trucks! Guess I was lucky, the truck drives great.

I find it pretty ironic that so many people are in here talking total shit about people working for a living and calling them dumb monkeys.

If y’all are so flush in brain power and tools, do your own fucking alignments.

@jberry813 has a write up. Put your money where your mouth is.

When you pay a business to provide a service...that’s a contract.
If you didn’t receive the benefit of your bargain...the very contract you thought to raise and limit your actions as in, the business didn’t provide workers skilled in the task assigned to them. I’d be pissed too watching the guy fumble about and fuck it all up...

Not that i posted anything like that, but doing your own alignment with some string and a tape measure is no where near doing one on an alignment machine. If your JOB is to perform alignments, and you can't figure out how a cam bolt, or adjustable uca's work then you are not the brightest bulb in the pack.

Now that you are where you like it don't be afraid to take it to Firestone for a Toe-n-go alignment if you bumped it off just a little here and there.

I can, and do, but somebody who manages to get 3 degrees of positive camber out of this truck while trying to align it quite simply does not understand how the eccentric bolts work.

Reading through this thread late now. Wondering if I should have pushed back even more with 4” and 5” caster. Eveything else is within spec so I am wondering if I should even mind much since they should sit at about 3” anyways based on the email.

Modded it so much it turned into a 4Runner
They have to understand that you are running aftermarket UCA’s that have caster built in. The stock specs aren’t going to apply. You need to go to an actual alignment shop that has people that weren’t working at the Taco Bell across the street 2 weeks ago.

Yeah in my case I showd the guy the specs from JBA and the notes in the email about the amount of expected caster. Toe and Camber are still 0.05 and 0.0. Mentioning caster isnt going to cause issues with tire wear. The toe was pretty bad before which was causing a pretty bad ride. Though it is much better now with this neing Les Scwhab though. The guy that did it was newer though he did check with the vet that “had been doing alignments for 20 years” so not sure. Definitely going to check out the DIY guide there too.

I have been happy with my local firestone. Had lifetime on my Silverado and they realigned it as needed and even adjusted properly for me after I lifted it. Their alignment guy has always been really good. Was rear ended really badly once, after getting it back something was not right and I took it into Firestone and their alignment guy was able to figure out what was wrong and point me back to the repair shop saying they should have caught it when they were straightening the frame.. My truck was crab walking and it turned out when I was rear ended my back axle was shifted (how that happened I don't know). Anyway original repair shop did make good on it and managed to get the rear axle back in position. Drove it for another 10years with no problem
