First Drone

I'm thinking about buying one, just to mess around with.

What would be a good beginner drone, should I buy a cheap one due to no doubt crash and burn or should I buy a better one with more features?

 

What are you wanting to do with this quadcopter? Like are you just wanting to fly FPV/freestyle or are you wanting a DJI to do photography/videography? I don't have any experience with any DJI's or that style.

If you just want to just fly around freestyle in FPV or LOS, I'd highly recommend a NewBeeDrone AcroBee to start with. That's what I learned on. They are small quadcopters that are very forgiving. You can crash the hell out of them and not be out a lot of money or have a lot of parts to replace. Frames and props are super cheap. Great company, good service, good prices.

The AcroBee is what's called a "Whoop" or sometimes "Tiny Whoop". Great for flying around in the house or office. Not heavy enough to damage or break anything.
The transmitter (controller) and goggles that come in this kit are very basic but will do good enough while you learn.

I'd also recommend getting a flight simulator to practice your flying on the computer before in real life. You can crash all you want in a sim and not be out any money or time. Plus you can do sims for fixed wings, planes, helicopters, etc..

I've been out of the quadcopter game for about a year but I'm ready to get back into it. It's a fun hobby! Once you get experience, you can start building your own quads and that's fun in itself.

Really just for fun. I'm heavy into photography, so I'd like to use it for cool pics, and video's if I can find a decent video editing program. I have Photoshop for pics, if it takes good enough ones. One I bought and will get Saturday claims to have a kinda good camera.

Honestly just seeing things from a different prospective will be cool too.

I too just bought the same drone. Seemed like a really good Prime day deal. It is my first drone as well.

 

The video quality of these are too good, but I like images best. Love that it shoots in RAW.

bought my first drone 7/29, passed faa part 107 8/04! got a good deal on a mini 2 because the owner upgraded to a mini 3.

 

You could mess around with this one. It has decent features. Probably should wait and see what kind of deals they are running for Prime days.
