I noticed there was a 2nd generation thread about clean engine bays, but didn't see one for 1st generations. This is mine. It's not perfect but it gives me great satisfaction. can anyone compete?

Your "before" is like 100x cleaner than mine. No competition here. Looks very nice.

Any issues with the paint on the hood after removing the heat shield?

Lol should have read the thread before I linked it - I remember coming across it awhile back and I guess I only read the first few posts. I guess its just for noise. I think my nasty looking one will be coming off. Wonder how much a sound deadening pad would change the volume in the cab. Maybe it would just trap more heat and work against the cooling system? Probably negligible.

Your '08 has one? My 2011 didn't come with one either.

My 98 had one. I left it on but it wasn't pretty. My 01 doesn't have one and I didn't notice any change in noise level.

Right now my budget calls for cheap mods so I'll feel like I accomplished something and make it look cleaner by removing it. Plus the bug guard needs to be removed as per my preference. Free mods baby, so satisfying.

This was from a long time ago. Didnt last long. And haven't cleaned it as good since. Need to once again. Just used the cheap aerosol foam cleaner and shine stuff. Works good.
