Ha. You wouldn't be saying that if you saw how it looks now. Like I said that was from a long time ago. Since, I've neglected it. As well as my huge rats nest of wiring all over the damned place from all my lights. Its horrid. Lol. One day I'll get around to ripping all the wiring out and redoing it with a nice relay box all professional like. As well as keeping it clean after that. Right now it's kinda pointless. Need to do my wheel wells on the outside too. They're all faded. And do the custom splash guards. It'll be nice again. Eventually. Ha.

I'm not 100% sure, but I want to say no. I know the transmissions are different from all the rest in the years 03-04. A guy on here found out the hard way when he went to go replace the tranny in his 03. He's been looking for months with no avail since the years are so narrowed down.

Not a great picture, but this is my old Tacoma before I sold her. I had never cleaned her.

My truck knows that I never cleaned the engine bay, so the truck doesn't go dirty .

Here is the picture taken less then three years ago. I love 2.7 - so much space to work around. Not that I need that often tho (everything on the picture is original Toyota, less the battery and radiator cap). The only new parts here are ignition wires, belts and head gasket.

I thought I cleaned it once and had a pic but I guess not. Sadly it looks similar to this again, gotta clean it soon.

Just the 'gunk' products. Usually found at your parts stores. Engine degreaser, and engine protector shine.
    http://www.gunk.com/Home/Products/EngineCleanersDegreasing.aspx

I even bought one of those long-bristle car wash brushes to help gently scrub and work in the degreaser. As well using that same brush with the shine stuff. You just gotta soak it and work it in. Iirc, I sprayed the crap out of everything with the shine stuff, scrubbed/rubbed it all over with the brush and a rag. Then after that shine stuff sat for a bit and soaked in even more, took a dry towel and wiped everything clean.

Sounds like a lot of work reading that, but I wasn't even being that meticulous about it. I did however leave ample time for the motor to dry after degreasing and rinsing. So maybe another hour of dry time.

Edit. The degreasing part was easiest. I didn't wipe anything really on that part. Just the brush on some areas. Sprayed it one last time to foam again, and rinsed. And my engine was fairly clean to begin with, no grease/oil buildup. Maybe a lil around my valve covers and heads. So I can't comment on how it'll fair with super greasy/oily engines.
