I finally got to take my boat out. I have a 16 foot runabout (1969 Starcraft) with a 40 and a 7.5 on the back, 9 gallons of gas and fishing stuff. We went about 100 miles to lake Pepin on the Mississippi (pretty flat towing). I kept it about 60 mph in 4th gear with the cruise control set and she just purred along at about 2500 rpm. Even with the top up on the boat and bucking a stiff headwind on the way home she did just fine. Don't know that 70 on a freeway is in the cards but with some trip planning, that could be avoided. Happy.

I'm glad your trip went well. What type of hitch do you have?

That 2.7 is just dandy, I miss my second gen. I never won any drag races or attempted any but I never hesitated hooking up to any reasonable load and worried about making it there. Modern marvel.

I got a "Drawtite". Was pretty straight forward install but I did pay Hitch World to install the light wiring. Worth the expense.
