Hello all... Long time lurker first time poster. Quick details about myself... 22 Y/O resident of Salty and snow-y Western New York. Been shopping around for a Taco for a year. Surfed this site a lot.

Was at my local big Toyota dealer tonight and after browsing the lot and test driving a 2007 rust bucket taco. The manger mentioned that they had a truck in the back that they have yet to put on the lot because of some warranty/recall? work. So in front of me was a 2006 TRD double cab 4x4 . They had just installed a brand new frame and a tranny that came off a truck with 30,000 miles. The truck itself had 64,000 miles on it. Truck is MINT. I didn't see a speck of rust. 1 previous owner. They want $19,999 for her..Admittedly I'm not to savvy when it comes to vehicles or buying vehicles for that matter.

So here i am looking for some fatherly advice haha.. 19,999 is a lot of dough to drop. So i figured id risk the online bashing and see if someone could help a young man out. -Cody

That price seems WAY too high.

Lol I'm not to good at giving fatherly advice seeing as I'm only 18, but that does seem like a steep price to pay for a second gen, that being said I paid over 10 grand for mine truck, it's a first gen with 78,000 and a trd double cab, tho so they tend to be over priced up here in the northwest.

I'm on West coast but that's about what you would pay around here. My 05 A/C sport with 128k was 15k.

I don't see that price as crazy although it feels a touch high. It is a 4x4 in great shape and those are really low miles, ...so it's sat a bit.
My biggest ? is why the new tranny at 64k miles...

I would be skeptical of a truck with 64k and a “new” transmission. Where in NY are you? My brother has been shopping around the Rochester area and passed on a few trucks because he was looking for something newer.

Buffalo area.. Found a 2011 TRD off road 68 K for miles.. Full double cad for the same price at the dealer over.. Seems like the better deal to me. Im with you guys seems sorta sketchy to have the new transmission.

That's insane. I'm the original owner of an '05 TRD Offroad. Truck had all available options at the time, and I paid $26k for it. With essentially no miles on it, thirteen years ago.

OP- I bet you could get that price down a bit. The new frame and trans is nice though. If you are in NY then you might want to think about getting one of these kits to keep that frame pretty: http://amzn.to/2BZNk39

He is trying too rip you off, also some 2006 have head gasket issues, better too avoid them.I would keep looking for a better deal on a newer truck.

Definitely a much better deal. Don't know why they are calling it a base model though. It's obviously a TRD off road. At first I thought someone had just put the sticker on there to look cool. But the interior pictures show all the goodies.
