So it's missing the transfer case? Needs a different tranny? Different driveshafts? Is the 4x4 emblem atleast on there? And what's the point of what he did?

He got the truck from his brother for free.

I have a divorced case and shaft....but will probably end up just swapping in a 4x4 trans, as I know where a few happen to be hanging out....

waiting to be loaded into the back of the truck.

I could be wrong but I think OX locker used to or still might offer a locker for that earlier Toyota axle

No way to have an ox locker with a drop out 3rd. The shifter and fork are mounted to the diff cover. The only Toyota axle they maybe make one work on is the fj40 c clip axles with the removable diff cover.

Maybe that is it, I just remember seeing it on OX lockers website and wondered how it worked with a 3rd member but never looked it to it. Being the fj40 had a reg axle it had to have been for it

Holy crap! I think we should change this to the Hellen Keller build. Best to burn it and call insurance, then start over fresh.

not quite what I was going for there psu. but thanks for the suggestion? so gents.... who has some pictures of your front hanger and rear shackles? I have been looking at a lot of threads, and have seen a few different ways. I have seen the rear shackle mount be mounted inside the frame, and have seen holes cut into the frame and welded in. I have also seen some people run a weld along the entire front xmember, stitch welded every so often, and even just around the hanger and a strap on front and back. Just looking for the better options, pictures are appreciated. Thanks guys

although, after a little further research it seems the shackle hanging from inside the frame by tubes is only up to the 95s.... can anyone tell me if this is correct?

    Thanks

Well gents, I am on the verge of ordering some parts tomorrow.

What do yall think of trail gear? Haven't fully decided what exact setup Im going to run as far as springs etc. But I have to do something about that front hanger.

Was thinking about going ahead and ordering that, unless anyone has a better suggestion. I thought about building a front hanger, but by the time its all said and done I am assuming it'll be just as easy to just weld in theirs.

Also, I have seen some people have cut through the frame rails to mount rear shackles...is this preferred over making mounts just inside the frame rails and gusseting them back to the frame?

Again, any pics of setups are greatly appreciated. I am steady looking into how I want to do it....but when there are this many people who have tried so many different approaches and then even after tweaked them....

Cant hurt to ask. I am ready to get this thing on the road.
Picked up my 4x4 trans case and shafts (stock) and ifs steering box two days ago.
It cost me an arm and leg lol! $20 in gas, $20 in beer, and all I had to do was move them from his bed to mine. Then enjoy a couple cold ones.

Thanks again for any input yall.

You need a different tcase than a taco one: they are drivers side drop. Your axle is passenger side drop. You need a tcase from an older pickups up to 95, as they are also pass. drop.
