This adventure wasn't a fail as you had multiple tools at your disposal and used them to get out. I call it a success. Damn glad it was during the cooler months leaving you mosquito free to do all of this.

    SCENARIO!

So I'm gona tell you guys what I would have done, then you guys tell me what you would have done, and we will all learn a few new ideas for next time.

And were going to assume we have the same tools as clint here has, which looks to be a shovel, and a "come a long" aka hand winch.

First off, I believe when your stuck, don't bother trying 6 different things real quick, I usually plan out how I'll get out. In this case, I would have started digging! a lot, nothing wrong with a little leg work.
I'd dig myself a real good trench in front and behind each tire, making sure that at the end of my small trenches, it was a smooth incline, not a "wall"
Then I'd find a bunch of small sticks and tree branches to put in my trenches.
Next I'd see if my hand winch would get me anywhere, we'll say it didn't. then I'd use the jack underneath the lower control arms to get the tire up, again putting sticks and branches underneath the tires. then it's go time! and I'd lower the jack a bit, letting pressure down, but leaving the jack high enough so I can drive off of it and not end up in the hole I just got my tire out of.

then I'd drive home and post on TW about my stuck!

    ok your turn!

I'd bury the rear end of my truck until it bottomed out and call a tow, but that's 'cause I drive a Prerunner and he was stuck in Louisiana mud.

Well, maybe I'd skip step one and just grab my phone...

The things required to pull bitches
If I was by my self like that? DIG DIG DIG!!!!!

I would deflate my tires probably to around 10, and pretty much what rab89 said.

If I have people, ask them to sit in the bed over the drive tires or jump up and down over the tires.

tires are great, but its always nice to have a means of recovery! a good high lift jack, couple of tow straps and a shackle would have got you out of that situation in a heartbeat. a lot less work and relatively cheap.
but as said above the tires will make a huge difference.

I considered airing down, but jacking up the tires and getting the planks underneath them worked..luckily!

The average tow truck wouldn't have made it to me LOL! If I wasn't able to dig her out, I'm not sure what I would have done :D

when gone ride like that I bring my High lift jack. No I don't have any place to jack on the truck except the rear hitch. Jack the rear up and push the darn thing over, this normally works for me.
