    2023 Trail Edition
    Hey guys,

Just purchased my first truck. The closest I owned in the past was a GX460. 2023 Tacoma Trail Edition. Loving it and already starting to mod. Looking forward to learning more about her and threads from fellow members. I’m also a big fan of changing the oil early at break-in. Probably first oil extraction at 750 miles and first filter change with oil around 1500. Maybe seems excessive but oil is cheap and I do believe it produces a better motor. I plan on using 0w-40 European formula and Ceratec at the first oil change. My personal favorite

Suggestion for other mods you all enjoy?

    so far I’ve done -
    - LED lamps, high and low beam
    - LED DRL
    - LED interior kit with license plate
    - Pedal Commander, going with an OTT tune soon
    - Seat Covers
    - AVS in-channel rain guars
    - 35% Ceramic Tint
    - Ceramic coating

No, the Trail Package is an SR5 with added packages. Maybe it could have been added if I custom ordered but the LED lamps coast me $70. Honestly, there are some really nice looking aftermarket headlamp units that I think I would rather go with anyway.

Congrats. Just wondering why (quote) "I plan on using 0w-40 European formula and Ceratec at the first oil change." when Toyota the manufacturer recommends 0W20 ?

0W-20 is recommended for CAFE reasons only and only in the US. This engine is rated up to 15w-40 in hot climates. Unfortunately, pretty much every manufacturer is following this trend. Thin oil is more prone to shearing and fuel dilution, it breaks down faster which equals more engine wear. 0w-40 EF is very good stuff, probably the best oil M1 makes with the additive packages. I will gladly give up 1% reduction in fuel economy for better engine protection.

    Good article on the subject:

Congratulations the trail edition is a nice package. I have a cement grey sr5 4x4 and love it but the trail is a little bit nicer with some of the TRD off road stuff and some special wheels. Don't think the trail edition came outt until 2021 or I probably would have went for it too. Magnetic grey is a good color too, one of the best colors they've kept.

    You done a lot already.
I'd get a tonneau cover and maybe you might like hood struts since you seem like you want to service it yourself. The hood is pretty heavy. I like having mine.
