    Hello everyone,

I was recently introduced into fishing by a buddy of mine. Never really cared for it (last time I had fished was when I was a child and had no idea what I was doing). This time, I was shown how to actually fish, so saying I had a good time is an understatement.

    I was hooked!

I caught 2 fish... Pardon my ignorance but I dont even know what they were... I think Bass?

Now, as I am doing research and attempt to gain knowledge about fishing, I came across gear that had labels / cancer warnings. Something about the products containing lead or other substances that are known to cause cancer / birth defects / reproductive system harm.

I dont know about you fellas, but I am hoping to keep the jewels issue free for a long time. Dont want cancer either. Lol.

I’ve seen pregnant women fishing, wouldnt they have to worry about birth defects?

I was really hoping to take off with this hobby, but now Im not so sure, as I wouldnt want to “expose” people to harm.

What do you experts out there make of this?

Seriously, don't worry about the warnings. That looks like Calaveras or Braunig Lake? That's a nice Redfish in the second pic.

those are redfish...even the little one. Just make sure you wash your hands properly after handling lead weights sinkers etc. those warnings are so people dont eat the weights sinkers etc...I guess.

    Redfish? Nice.

Felt pretty strong when I pulled him in! Would have never thought that a little fella like that, could put up such a decent fight.

Man, I dont know about them warnings. Lead is scary shit. Made me feel like a science experiment.

Hopefully someone can shed a little more light about it.

    Thanks man.

Them warnings make me feel guilty if I were to hand some gear to a small kid or pregnant lady.

Seems like everything messes you up nowadays.

I hope you check your local fishing rules and have a license, some places you cant keep redfish until they get a certain length.

You think it gave you a tug from the bank.

Hook one in a kayak and let the sleigh ride begin.

Welcome to the sport. No need to worry over lead.... there are alternatives, but more expensive. When all else fails, a floating nightcrawler works just about every time:thumbsup:
