I have a 2004 Tacoma 4 door. I was told to put two shallow tens behind my back seats but I already have two 12s without a box. I'd like to keep the 12s but don't want to lose too much of my back seats. What's the best way to put them in without losing too much space, I'd like to have atleast my 2 outside seats. Should I do a dual box or 2 separate boxes? Any suggestions?

these should fit, it will be nice and snug but shouldn't be an issue if you build it right

You can get a box on eBay that will fit behind the seats and loose no room for around $100

the boxes on eBay are complete crap,
As for the one compartment boxes or 2, thats up to you at the end of the day. there is no performance gain or loss

I have one and it's not bad really. Fits behind seats well, has required air space and looks good.

It's not hard to run a bead of caulk inside to seal it. I'm not hard core stereo equipment but my 2 10's sound pretty good. As far as construction goes the one I have seems to be on par with what the audio shops sell pre-made.

i include all "pre-mades" - a select few in the statement. Anyways, the Op will need a custom box built imo, If he needs help i can assist him to help him get best use of what he already has

I know I wont loose any performce if I do a single or dial enclosure but my point was how I can do this without loosing too much space. I really know nothing about systems, my friend said he'd hook if up for me but I need to know what to order lmao

My truck is a little different than yours. Just go to eBay and search your year model Tacoma speaker box.

Replaced chrome badges with Sockmonkey black badges, painted billet grill black, K&N cold air intake, my corner light turn signal circuit, Speedfreek traction bars, RAAMaudio BXT/Ensolite, Stereo: Kenwood KIV-701 USB/Bluetooth deck, 10" Pioneer shallow sub behind the rear seat, Infinity 6822cf 6x8 front and rear doors, Fosgate P400-2 (sub), US Acoustics USX-4065 (four main speakers)
You won't be able to get 12s behind your rear seat. In a 2005+ that is a different story, but the room behind the rear seat on the 2001-2004 double cabs is extremely small. You can fit a 10" behind the seat with some work using this box http://caraudiofactory.com/2001-toyota-tacoma-prerunner-p-386.html?osCsid=70itfpkpsocn0ef74g2tn0ku85
If you really want to use your 12s, I think the best option is to put a box on the floor behind the center console. That way you can still get two people in the back seat and only lose the center area. I have seen some boxes that look like an upside down L and rest in the middle of the seat to give more area. Either way, I am not sure you will get enough volume for both 12s, but you could definitely fit one of them. Behind the rear seat is clean, but it would mean you need to buy a 10" or 8" sub.
I'll see if I can find some pictures of the behind the center console setup and post them here.

One 12 in the right box with the right amp would be plenty.
