hiadun, as you know I support the implementation of the mod you have done. Thing is every time I see the thread title I immediately think of a squeeky clutch pedal for some reason. Ever thought about modifying the title a bit so it is clear that this is the T/O bearing?

Oh, and to others reading this thread, there is some reason to believe that hiadun's mod may work best if applied early on and not wait until the T/O bearing has been making noise for a great many miles. It has to do with the internal rollers following one pathway and taking a set for a long time and then forced into a slightly different raceway. What say you hiadun?

6 years after my post and after endless arguments with the "TOB doesn't turn" trolls, here is a video that goes through what I've always said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMY8rtry1bQ
It's interesting to note that the new Toyota slave cylinder he had does have a stronger spring. The force is of course dependent on how much the spring is compressed so his readings need some clarification. My ten dollar fix continues to work and it looks like if he had just changed the slave cylinder his problem may have been fixed because the TOB looked in good shape.

Great stuff! I just installed my urd throwout bearing kit with an aisin clutch because of a TOB chirp. I took off a luk clutch. Gonna get the slave tomorrow. Was thinking I needed to adjust the pedal to get clearance between pressure plate and bearing but clearly after reading these forums that’s not the case lol. My new URD TOB isn’t squeaking yet, but I took off inspection cover and saw it kinda bouncing around. Once I get the updated slave I’m going to see if it looks like it has more preload. I had that same Toyota TOB with new part number and compared to urd TOB it was same length so I’m not worried about that. I’ll post video of before and after slave install of the TOB with vehicle running. I’m hoping it looks like it’s spinning smoother it almost looked like it’s bouncing and I can see why that would cause it to prematurely chirp.

You gots to do a video for sure! Mine is still chirpy chirping, but just when its cold, so i have mainly just dealt with it. But i'm at 130k, so one day i will need a clutch and might as well fix the issue then, if i can. If you can believe it, i'm still on the OG brake pads too, lol. Good ol manuals, lol. Cant wait for that vid :oldglory:

Good to see you're doing it in an orderly manner and looking at the results. A video would be great. I fixed mine 7 years ago when it was quite noisy and it has worked fine since (but I don't drive that much). The fix is so simple and you'll need to do it anyway I'd certainly encourage anyone who has a squeaking clutch to fix the slave cylinder now because you might get a lot more life out of your expensive to fix clutch than you expect. Also if you let it vibrate you're not doing your TOB arm and pivot any good. Fix it.

For sure man, Video will be coming at or before this weekend. Just got in my truck today and in the early morning heard bearing noise when clutch was not pressed. Wasn’t chirping yet but definitely heard the bearing... Literally less than 300 miles on TOB I’m hoping I can drive as little as possible before I install updated slave. I freaking love this Toyota and like you said still got OG pads seems like the parts on these last for a good while. This TOB issue is getting annoying but sure hope this slave helps. If not I’m just putting in the Ford spring, would go straight for that but I have updated slave already ordered.

So it won’t let me post any videos don’t know what I need to do to get it attached, but here is a picture of the new updated slave looks exact same as old but it’s painted brown and part number ending in 81 instead of 80 new one definitely had more tension. After i installed new updated slave the clutch fork was pushed more towards clutch without pedal depressed, and bearing I guess seemed to have more preload although bearing still wobbled more then I would like and made very very little noise which is less than is was before the slave. Hope this lasts a while seems good so far. I post videos when I figure out how to.

Can you upload it to youtube and then post the link to youtube? I have probably about 60k on mine or 60k at least, that its been chirping. Mostly only does it in the winter and only on the really cold days, so i have mostly just dealt with it. Planned on doing the whole urd hydro bearing when i changed the clutch, but last i checked, they quit selling it. Let us know how yours holds up. I'm guessing it was chirping pretty bad, before new bearing?

Here is a video i took of mine last winter. Should have depressed the clutch to show how it goes away, but we all know that, lol.

Here is the video if the link works lol. Yes it chirped very bad before I installed urd kit. Now when it’s cold can still hear bearing noise got worse over last night. Still don’t have updated pivot stud In but I have updated slave on it part number ending in 81 and the TOB is part number ending in 41 which should match updated Toyota bearing besides it being bigger to accommodate the sleeve. This video is before updated slave cylinder, I’ll post a more recent one later that’ll show how loud it got again.

Ugh... so the noise came back huh? I think mine was/is louder than yours, lol. But, for whatever reason, it only does it when its cold outside. Has for 2 years. Kinda hear it when its warm, but not really enough to bother me.

It was an expensive fail. Waste of time, it’s now chirping as I release the clutch pedal. I got a tougher spring like the one from the ford master cylinder because I couldn’t find that one. No difference. I’m stumped. Just gonnna roll with the chirp for now. Keep in mind bearing it’s just two months old if even

Kinda where i am at. Mines not really bad or hardly noticeable when its warm outside. Does yours go away in warm weather or still to early to tell, not sure if your up north or south.

Just got a Ford F-150 master cylinder going to replace the spring in my updated Toyota slave cylinder. URD Bearing only has 4k on it but chirping now at all temps. Noise still goes away with light pressure on clutch pedal. I’m sure this spring with more tension will make the difference I need.

Hey I got a 91 ford master cyl but it seems the spring is too big in diameter. By any chance do you remember was year f150

So this exists. I wasnt even aware of it, just the URD one that went out of stock. Anyone here try it yet? I may have to. Mine now chirps in the summer.

A very expensive way to solve a very simple problem. From their comments it doesn't sound like they understand the original TOB problem. But hey, something else to waste money on.

Man, that’s disheartening, sorry to hear that.

@hladun thanks for the tread and all the work. So you need the urd sleeve/tob + your described updated slave cylinder for a fix, right?
I had them put an entire new clutch assembly in and after 6k miles I’m back to the old chirp - but only about 50% of the time.
I read somewhere that some high temp lube around tob and fork might help. Thoughts?

Wait, are you saying that you have driven 60k miles with the chirp and NO fix?!
