I heard it's like a four hour job to replace the tensioner which I am not looking forward to if that's the case

huh? more like 4 minutes. You may be thinking of the cam chain tensioner.

Take off the belt and remove that 1 last dark wheel.

Spin it in your fingers. If scratchy that's it.

    Hell yes. It's a start.

The whole tensioner I heard is a pain. The bearing itself I heard is no problem. Either way after doing all these bearings I'm becoming a belt drive expert lol

I had to change my tensioner out when it started making a pretty similar noise, sucks you have to pull the alternator and AC compressor. You dont have to disconnect the compressor lines thought, you can just swing it out of the way once its unhooked

So based on all videos you think its leaning towards tensioner?

I can try and capture a longer and slower one tonight

Also any links to the belt tensioner and just the bearing? I'm not finding anything on rock auto

The body of the ps pump or the alternator. Just on the case. Not necessarily the pulley.

take it off and see if it's what is making the noise, you've already wasted enough money needlessly for something that takes 5 minutes to check.

get the bearing number while it's off and then put it back on and go to a bearing house (Motion, Fastenal) ....spend 5 bux and get a bearing....you don't need a pulley, a tensioner or anything else. 1 bolt....1 bearing 1 hammer, screwdriver and a socket the right size. done.

Well I did pull it off. And here's the result.

After wrenching it back on the noise did subside (but still a little bit of whine). Still going to end up replacing it. Having a hell of a time finding the pulley

Part number for the bearing itself is DB17-31DUM NSK but don't have a bearing press.

That's it. Bearing's toast. that was the prob. all along.

You don't need a press or rather YOU may need one if you don't have a garage of stuff to make do, BUT the parts houses rent them.
    OR
Once you knock out the old bearing the new one is pushed in with a socket WITH THE SAME OD as the bearing. Lay the wheel down on a board and knock it in straight.

@Manfred we can do this with my vice or a bottle jack, some impact sockets and someone’s sliders.

On lawn mowers I've shot grease and.or oil in there and got a whole 'nother summers use out of them.

Im just glad it wasnt the water pump, or ac compressor etc etc.

It was worth it to replace the other bearings because they were on their way out anyways. Now i have trail bearings for someone! haha

    true.

Yes, it's not like they were going to last forever anyway. (although it's surprising how long they can)
