FJ Rock Guards on Taco

I have an 03' Extended Cab Taco and went today to possibly buy the rock guards from a guy who has a new FJ Cruiser. He is selling them for $125. Way cheaper than sliders, but they are only 58" long, so they don't cover the entire length of the truck that needs to be. The crazy thing about it, is that the FJ frame has threaded screw holes for factory replacements such as steps, nerf bars. The Tacomas don't. Has anyone tried doing this, or do you just suck it up and buy sliders?
