Yeah, switched caps and reset the codes, didn't come back up.

Disappointed, I want that damn gas cap to work! Every thread i read said I had the right part.

That's the whole reason I don't have one. Heard too many horror stories.

Damn you Toyota, for not locking our fuel doors/caps.

I've had a Stant locking cap for about a year now. Never thrown a code.

 

first gens had a locking door

 

Looking at Camry's or Corolla's. Anything in any specific year models that I should be aware of and look at?

 

Why not just add a lock to the fuel door. I am almost positive I have seen it done on here before.

 

You tell me which one exactly you are looking at and I will share what I know. Too hard to generalize it based on that question.

well then, Toyota gave me another call about my truck to update me, I guess my fuel sensor or whatever it is that tells you how much gas you have in your tank ended up breaking and was false on how much I had. Had supposedly about 1/4 of a tank left and in reality......my tank was empty and pretty much caused my fuel pump to die

 

Dam that sucks, horrible chain of events there.

 

I'll do some searching, but I haven't seen it done one a 2nd gen.

Reset the codes, put the old cap on and haven't had them come back.

I think I'm gonna put it back on Tomorrow and drive around, maybe I didn't have it threaded all the way or something. I really wanted it to work.

I still cant believe how insecure Toyota made these trucks. No locking gas cap/door, no lock on all those bed cubbies, and no lock on the center console or glove box.
