x2! Now the fun part begins

They should settle a bit to make you sit level
My Dakars handle heavy loads with no problem even with one of the leafs pulled. But the stiffness is also pretty harsh on bumps, so it has its pro's and cons. If I was doing it again I would have probably gone with the all pro's or something because I don't haul heavy loads too often. If you really load down the bed a ton I would go with the expeditions or Dakars, if not get some softer leafs that handle a little nicer. Also if you were looking for longer shocks I have a buddy who ordered a set of 5150's for his 4runner and ended up being to long that he would prob get rid of for cheap. They are 15.89-25.91 idk if that size would work but I figured I would give ya a heads up.

maybe it's just the caffine, but that gave me a tickle.

not bad. no rush, but if you wouldn't mind asking next time you talk to him

yeah, they're 5 gallon tanks, but most say 20L on the side for whatever reason.

northern tool is perfect, the holders i'm making are made to be used with the blitz ones northern sells. i want to say they're $35, or something close to that.

good luck, that would be a handy machine to have

I need that luck. The guy won't get back to me promptly and today is the last day I'd be able to drive down there because I need to work and then Iim going to Tampa for the rest of the week/weekend.

Awesome that you got it. Which one did you end up getting?
i ended up getting the hydraulic one. i'm glad i did after using it. i don't really need the adjustability at this point that the other one offered. with the other one, you could bend not only to the angle you want, but also choose the radius of the curve. that's a great feature, however i don't need it at this point, and it wasn't worth the extra time per bend. I also got a 14'' cutoff saw, which has been an awesome tool. makes quick, clean cuts (angle adjustable) in any size metal i'll ever use.

Oh cool. I'm sure the other one would have gotten old fast. That cutoff saw will be super useful fore exhausts. Now the only thing slowing you down is a notcher.:D

I would be interested in running some longer shocks and not losing any up travel. I think the guys out west with a spring under and all would want one.
with the sucess of this bender, i now have the tools i need to make them...it's the design that's tough. we don't have nearly the extra room in our fender wells that the 1st gens do, which i'm assuming why hoops are made for them and not use. i'll keep playing with the design and see if anything comes of it. bad part is that i have to buy a set of longer shocks just to test it, so after i buy those, i pretty much have to get it to work [IMG]
I can see clearance with the shock body and the wheel being a problem, especially when it's cross axled and stock bs wheels are used. On top of that, if it's too close to the frame then the shock would contact that.
I never got a quote per se, that was a price I found online to get an idea. It was about the same price.
Yeah, i figure steel prices are pretty standard across the board

The sliders are 1.75 OD .120 Wall HREW.
hmmm, i may dive into the slider business in the future [IMG]

Have you guys seen this rig? It's sick.
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lon...ng-travel.html
I watched that last night, that's a rediculous setup. 3.0 bypasses, and he still has 90% of his bedspace [IMG]

I'd be surprised if he ever pushes the limits of those things. It's interesting how he's got a cantilever setup for just the shock and is still using leaf springs.

Thanks, I'd be pretty disappointed if I didn't graduate.

    Looks way bigger.

That's impressive. I see your trailer kick outs as well. You have been busy, once the business grows you may not have enough time for the other job.

Did you use the two foot driving trick at the ramp?

 Good point, he should have thought about that.

Probably to make them sound more militaryish if that's a word.

I forgot to ask, what's hanging from your hitch? Looks like your 7 pin and some sort of tire off a tonka truck?

yeah i was towing the trailer i usually keep the 7 pin zip tied out of the way since i broke it. and the tire is 1/10th scale nitto mud grappler for a 1/10th rc truck

seizure time! the cutoff saw has already been worth it in my mind, it cut through 1x1x1/8'' box tube in about 5 seconds, and it's a nice clean cut too. since that's what i'll be cutting a lot for the jerry can mounts, it's nice to have that speed ability, with how many pieces go into it

That sounds much better than the saw zall. It's annoying breaking and bending blades.

I would be interested in running some longer shocks and not losing any up travel. I think the guys out west with a spring under and all would want one.

the total chaos kit for the 5 lugs comes with now lower shock mounts that relocate both shocks to the front side of the axle. benefits of this is that you have more clearance from the frame and wheel, and with them being on the front, the shocks still help prevent axle wrap. a lot of R&D will have to be put into these if they're going to work

I'd try to gauge interests some more before you put the effort into it.

Have you guys seen this rig? It's sick.

I've been seeing more setups like that that run canti arms but stick with sprung under. i'm thinking it's because it's just so simple, and leafs are a proven stong setup. 4 ravel withoutlink opens up a whole new can of worms. i can't remember who's truck it was, but someone has a cantilever setup where everything is located under the bed, so he's bulling like 16-18 inches of travel with the "bed cage" completely out of sight under his bed.

    That's a sick sleeper setup.

That's impressive. I see your trailer kick outs as well. You have been busy, once the business grows you may not have enough time for the other job.

thatwould be nice, might even have to hire some extra help when i get back to florida and have to manage school and this
since you saw the kickouts, does that mean you got a facebook?
No, I still don't have an account but I can access your page, you just posted the link.
