I’m looking for a new muffler for my truck to give it some character. I think i’ve settled on the flowmaster 50 series delta but I’d like some peoples opinions. I plan on doing the install myself and I plan on using clamps not wielding. Will it sound too ricer? Any other suggestions for mufflers?

I've done a mod or two
Itll sound good but it'll have a drone. I have a 40 series that I'm replacing really soon with a Magnaflow 18".

Here's what mine sounds like on my 2.7...

I had the 50 on my 2.7 and liked the sound. The only problem was mine being an underpowered double cab it downshifted all the damn time. The drone was not cool on the hiway and i went back to stock.

If you're looking for a deep, aggressive tone it will be difficult trying to get that from a 2.4L engine and that is why Tacoma's can sound like an import for some. So to get that deeper, aggressive tone you may need to look at a more aggressive muffler, which also means that there is more likeliness there'll be interior drone. The addition of a resonator into your exhaust system can help lessen the interior drone. There are also additional factors such as headers, cold air intakes, turbo's, etc. which will impact exterior tone and interior resonance. As you can see there's a lot to know when selecting the right muffler. That's why we have a Support Team ready to answer any of your exhaust related questions. Just give us a call at 707-544-4761 and speak with a member of our Staff.
