Where did you go, upper NP by Sinclair? I fished through there a few times coming back from the Mile, wasn't overly impressed, but didn't spend alot of time there. Saw and fouled hooked some HUGE mirror carp in there though.

Just a little something I won at the Somerset Fly Fishing Show last weekend. Not to bad for a $10 raffle ticket! Anyone fish these rods?

A Winston B3X is ~$800. Not that I own any Winston's. Puff you sure got your money's worth out of that $10 ticket!

C&R is open on some of the limestone streams around here. Below zero F most days and not a fan of chipping ice out of the guides any more. Not like the trout are active anyhow. I am more than ready for spring, been a long winter already.

Ya that's right, you have to wait for the water to "turn" same with high pressure storms

That would be the couple of weeks a year of piss poor sledding they have here in Mn, some call it summer :) Not quite that bad but close...

Couple of years ago I went to a DNR sponsored event on winter trout fishing. The general consensus was that any time it gets above 28 F it is worth going out. I brought up the point that the limestone streams don't change temps that much, so what causes the increase in trouts active behavior? There was dead silence and finally the PhD trout biologist said there were several theories why, which one did I want to hear.

Yeah as a rule on freestone streams that I have fished all across the country when it gets above freezing for a few days it makes a huge impact especially if it is sunny. Although I have had some of my best fishing in snow storms too.

That's a beauty. On my list as a must have. 9' 5 wt will be my choice. I never have luck like that. Congrats!

I fish a 9'6 Winston B3x and can attest that it is a very nice trout rod. Got mine for $200 new so it was a no brainer buy. Winston's are super expensive without some kinda pro deal, but the lifetime warranty makes them worth it!

Can any of you Wyoming boys recommend some areas to fly fish near Alta, WY? My aunt has a house there and I have been invited to come out this spring. I want to plan out some fishing trips. Thanks for any advice. PM me if you don't want to spot burn or anything.

That is an epic deal! Def no brainer as you said. I would of preferred a 4 or 5 wt but I'm going to try this 7 wt out on some bay bay stripers by me. Should hold up nice against the schoolies!

I have casted out of it on both a fly rod and a spinning rod, it's not that hard or awkward to do. One thing that is annoying when fishing out of it is that it does not track well so if you're casting and don't have the paddle in your hand the packraft kinda spins from side to side or around in circles.

I didn't buy my packrafts with the sole intention of fishing from them, so I'm ok with how they perform when fishing from the packraft.

Fishing has been GOOD lately, temps are still cold though. Here's the top 3 fish of the day. Out of the seven I caught today four of them were over twenty inches. All were healthy and fat. They were all taken on a leech pattern fished streamer style.[IMG]

Someone please school me on salt water fly fishing! I've fresh water fly fished my entire life in the mountains of nc. I live in charleston now and only have salt water fishing and the itch of fly fishing is building up too much now. I've got a paddle board for the shallows in the marsh but I lack the knowledge of salty fishing.

The reef is a great spot, I prefer going to the mile though. Usually less crowds and bigger fish. Didnt catch these fish at either place though:cool:

I prefer the mile to. Just got the scenery :). I swung through there and spent the night but the fishing wasn't all that great.

I am hoping to get out to treasure island this weekend :woot:
