    Hey guys,

Had a check light come on last week so took to dealer and they found that the Bank 2 VVT Intake sensor wires had been chewed and there were mice prints on the engine cover. The bastards went to town in the 9 hours my truck was parked over night. I was quoted $750 to repair three wires because the access requires removal of the intake manifold. I had a hard time stomaching that and plan to fix myself, just wondering if anyone has had a similar issues or have any tricks to repairing this without removing the manifold?

Also, does the truck just disable the VVT system when a sensor is offline? I haven't noticed it and the truck is definitely more gutless than it already is. Any potential harm driving it around until fixed?

    Thanks in advance.1804B8E1-4924-4E88-9280-62C05591D5F2.jpg 7EEBE590-4FB2-4CA4-B3A6-1F60C06049A2.jpg

How much for the wiring harness? I couldn't imagine a dealer repairing wire.

You can buy rodent repellant and place it around the truck somehow. That should work. You can get it at farm stores or places like John Deere.

This is nothing new, give a quick search on here or use Google search. 100's of threads will pop up.
There are several methods that can be effective.

I've had that issue before on a few of my vehicles here. I just placed mouse traps around my carport. Fingers crossed. So far no issues.

Yeah it is that time of year right now mice are looking for nesting materials and a place to crash for the winter months. So far nothing on my new Taco. Had it Krown last week maybe that will keep them from chewing wiring etc. Does anyone know if the rust proofing helps with the mice problem.

I have one I would send you, but I don't have any terminals for it. For the price of them, maybe I should order a few to have on hand, then I could help people more readily. This seems to come up more than I ever thought it would.

Dryer sheets? Moth balls? Have a cat live in your engine? I think it’s the soy in the wiring that attracts them?

I jammed a couple dryer sheets in those chewed areas, I do not know how effective it is??
    I hear peppermint oil works.

If you can leave your hood open, you take away their security blanket and they go elsewhere

I velcroed a battery powered rodent repeller on top of the fuse box. It emits a high frequency sound and flashes led lights every 10 or 15 minutes. I put it in last fall and have had no mice issues. I park it outside.

Dryer Sheets and Irish Spring Soap do nothing but Peppermint Oil is effective.
