    Hi all,

I just bought a real POS 2002 4wd with V6, 5spd and Xtra cab...It's not pretty but I have hopes it will be a good truck. Had to tow it home, trying to get it back on the road. Some knucklehead put Tundra coil-overs on it so it was just undrivable. Looking for some replacements as we speak.
I bought this mostly for my teenage boys to gain some basic grease-monkey experience and learn to drive with a clutch. Man skills.

Wow that's a first, never heard of anyone trying that before. :der:

What a funny coincidence to find you here. Probably wouldn't remember me but I've met you a few times at shows/gtgs/gathering. I'm also a USN member, darkzero.

Welcome to TW! Looks like a pretty bad ass project truck... You'll get her squared away.

But damn... Tundra coil overs? lol. That'll be an easy enough fix though.

Lots of really cool guys around the Bay Area, Sac, and down here in the Valley. Good place to get tips, help, and people to run that truck in the mountains with.

I picked up a set of proper coil-overs yesterday and installed them, much improved! Now to fix the rear suspension, it's all jacked up and way too stiff. I don't know what these knuckleheads were thinking when they did this. ::sigh::

What kind of coil overs did you go with? What kind of lift are you trying to achieve in the back? And what type of payload are you going to be carrying with the truck?

I bought used ones off a 04 from a wrecker yard for the front, came with 2" lift rings on it. Right now I'm just trying to get it drive-able so I can get it smogged and registered. Has what looks like 4" lift blocks on the rear and the guy flipped the bottom inverted leafs so it just bounces around, no suspension at all. I would be happy with 2" lift and a decent ride for now, will enhance it all down the road. Not looking to make a hardcore worker out if it, just basic stuff. I couldn't tell what the back was really like until I fixed the front so I could drive it...calling down there today to check on the rear stuff on that 04.
