Fog Light Mod.

Love this mod!

 

I am interested in trying this mod today. However I am going to eliminate the fog lights all together and go with an aftermarket.
As you can see in the pic since installing my all pro bumper, I have to housing for the turn signals. I dont care to weld and tabs to the bumper and mount the original turn signals as I would rather just mount aftermarkets in a spot where I like instead of being restricted to how long the turn signal wiring is.
Does anyone know if the side marker socket and the turn signal socket are the same housings? Looks like there is enough length in the turn signal wiring to just pull it up a little bit and screw the housing directly into where the side marker light housing is. That way I womt have to worry about buying the resistor to slow the signal down.

 

the housings are not the same so the only options would be to mod your existing corner light housing or do the mod and get the resistors that you can get from advance auto for $12 dollars. And the install only takes a few mins.


Im wondering if you could use the (fog/Blinker) wiring to power your aftermarket lights so they would act like the fog light mod that every one else is doing but for your off-road lights instead. Not sure if it would be enough power though.

 

So if u had HIDs u would jus buy HIDs for the fog lights too? If not how would u do tht?

I switched the green wires and of course got the hyper blink in my new corner blinkers. I had read your post about using 921s so I went and got some. Unfortunately they did not fix my hyper blink. Had to add load equalizers to get rid of the hyper blink.

Even though the 921NA bulbs draw more power, it was not enough on my truck. Not sure why it was different.

 

Any way to have all the lights on but either the bumper lights or corner lights blink for turn signal?

 

Anyone hooked these up so the bumper fogs are on a switch? I am far from a wiring genius so any help is appreciated.

 

Weird...I have no idea what's going on? [btw, I mean it's weird that I have no idea what's going on; I don't mean it's weird that your truck's electronics are screwed due to your inferior wiring. ]

What type of bulbs did you use for the fogs?

 

Where do you get the LED resistor?

 

I got mine at Autozone and I saw the same brand at Orielly's so I imagine that most places like that will carry same or something similar.

so i just did this mod and everything worked out just fine. i did not use the led resistor because the blinking does not bother me, however, my now blinkers (old corner lights) are very dim. i have read somewhere this happens but not found a solution, unless i missed it. would the resistor fix the brightness also or can i just get another brighter bulb?

Edit: nevermind, just read that the 921's are brighter. ill pick some up this afternoon and see how it goes.

 

after doing this mod what type bulbs would fit if i wanted to change them to HID's
