Rare indeed. And expensive. Most people don't know about that. Most people also don't use LED's as running lights after they do this mod. But if you have any questions, just let me know. We have the exact same truck. And when i say inside, I mean...well, imagine this is the bulb and you have the base pointed to you and the LED's away from you:

    __1___0
    0____1_

The left most(0) and the right most(0) are the ones you want to keep and are what are in my picture of the bulb base. You want to cut the middle two wire contacts(1's).

No problem, brotha. It's just that, a picture. Most likely will have all 4. That's what I thought when I first started modding my truck with those and lights in general. Just get a few pairs and see what's up. Then decide from there. A picture can be worth 1,000 words or none.

I used a cuticle cutter to snip the wires. I found wire cutters were too large and damaged the base and I couldn't use one of my bulbs. The picture shows some damage. That's with a normal wire cutter and before I found the cuticle cutter.

With normal bulbs it'll light up fine, it is only with non-CK wired LED bulbs that get all messed up. Keep us updated.

So I did the mod, my turn signals work and my old turn signals at the bottom are now running lights. 2 problems though, after all the work to solder in the resistors I still get hyperblink, but no big deal. Other problem is the marker lights which are now my turn signals are pretty dim. Should I use a different bulb in there? Maybe same size but amber?

To be honest I have no idea how that would work. If it were in the reverse lights anyways, why would you need a high/low function? Maybe a sale gimmick? In my experience with "high/low" function LED's, the low and high are pretty similar in brightness. Them again I've never purchased a pair of LED's from superbrightleds.com, but I've heard and seen amazing results. The cheap ones from china aren't worth using for a high/low application. As for your issue, try and test them using two wires connected to the positive and negative terminals of your battery and touch the contacts on the bulb base. Like the diagram I said with the 1's and the 0's, touch the positive and negative to the 1's first then the 0's. Like I said, I've never had a good, reliable pair of high/low function LED's. But at this poin,t since you can only go off of what they're describing, you have to learn by trial and error. Maybe when you get them see if a buddy of yours has a GM vehicle that requires a high/low function bulb, like a brake light, and see if it works and is significantly brighter...as that eBay seller says they are. I personally wouldn't spend $22 on eBay. I'd rather out my money into something I know will work.

Looks good man, really good. They will get a little warm, but nothing like having a regular incandescent in there.

Generally LED's won't get anywhere near as hot at incandescents, so it won't matter how high of a wattage you get. That is just the pull from your system, not how much it's putting out.

And for anyone here THINKING about putting HID's in their turn signal housings, it won't work. I've gone through 1 1/2 sets of turn signals because they melted.

There is NOTHING wrong with that, especially wtih a money pit...I mean truck as ours. The only company I'd trust to put out numbers like that is VLEDs or Superbrightleds.com

Oh totally, dude. I would love to be able to throw down for the LEDs from Superbrightleds, but I'm a poor college student who spends more money on his truck than his girlfriend. Fact. Every single purchase of LEDs off of eBay have worked 100% of the times.

I have. It works. Simple. Two 10mm bolts, unplug factory relay, plug in new relay, reassemble.

I have that one now and it does blink faster than stock, tho not the fast-blink.

he was talking about the relay. under the dash on driver side take out 2 10 mm bolts and pull the relay

if your fog is also your turn signal IE white/amber in the lower housing, then you will need the relay.

Regardless if its incandescent or LED, if the bulb doesn't pull enough wattage from the system...the system will detect a faulty bulb and hyper flash. So small wedge bulbs like the 194/921, if turned into a turn signal, will hyper flash.

No problem man. The second I found that relay thread, I bought that EP35. I just never had the time to install it. I installed it a few days ago and boy am I happy. The resistors actually do get quite hot. So that is ONE less thing to go wrong.

Maybe I confused myself...could you elaborate a little more? I got so far as cutting the DRL beneath the steering column...now what do you want to do?
