either way, in the bowl or out the bowl, you will not need it.

yes, those brackets or ears is a reference point to help you align with the housing of the fog light

I decided to run heat sinks. I did some research on HID Planet about theblazers. I found that the blazers with HID bulbs get too hot and eventually thechrome in the reflector bowl flakes rendering your projector useless. So I decidedto run heat sinks as preventative measure to protect from overheating.

projectors dont rely on the chrome on your housing to output light... they are projectors... but for sake of cosmetics and to save you from opening up your lights, i would heatsink it.

Interesting write-up... I might have to reconsider the heat sinks. I'm not messing with them til it warms up though. I don't think I'll have a problem with them building heat in the winter, at least I hope not. Good info

Fog lights drained, cleaned and resealed. Rain should be coming shortly, hopefully they'll stay dry this time.

Since I fixed them, it's been cold, rainy and snowy and so far so good! I've run them almost every day and they're holding up great! I'm a little scared to go through the auto wash though...

I am about to do my fogs within the next week or so (once I get the headlight problems squared away). I am going to put them in the housing like pugga did, so any words of encouragement (pugga) would be appreciated.

Are you going to do the full retro like mine or just hole saw the fog light housing from the rear and JB Weld the projector in place like this thread:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/171829-blazer-fogs-factory-fog-housing.html

You don't need to cut the lens off and paint the bowls like I did just to get projectors in the factory housing. I just already had one leaking and figured 'go big or go home'

I want to put the projector inside the housing. Going to paint them black to match the heads. I also had to trim my inner fenders for the tires i run, so i figured, inside the housing would offer more protection for the projector. Why do you say you don't have to cut the lens off? can you bake them apart? i didn't think you could.

No I meant you can just hole saw the back of the housing and epoxy the projector in place if you just want projectors. If you want to get the housing apart for paint, the only way to do so is to cut them like I did. Unfortunately, they don't just come apart with head like the headlights. Only advice would be to use a hack saw to cut the housing apart. The dremel I used on the first go around ended up not leaving a clean cut, it was so high speed that it ends up melting the plastic. The hack saw took a lot longer but left a nice, clean cut which also made it easier to seal up at the end.

One other thing, the ridges on the outter edge of the inside of the fog light housing tends to promote paint runs unless you use light coats.

Thanks for the tip. Anything else you can think of PLEASE let me know, my headlight retro is driving me crazy (but it gives me something to do other than work and kids) and I want the fog retro to go smooth. What about the wiring harness? any thoughts?

I didn't use the wiring harness from TRS. The ballasts plug directly into the fog light harness and I haven't had any issues with the stock wiring.

Only other tip I can think of is the leaking I had on the previous page. I ended up putting some silicone around the perimeter of where the bulbs goes into the projector body (make sure the bulb works before you do this). I also haven't installed the heat sinks yet, waiting for it to warm up.

I tried to update the first page with the step by step and lessons learned. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

You ARE the man, and yes, i will ask you questions along the way (just ask brockoli). Thanks brother.

I need to look at the factory harness and projector kit harness to see what you are talking about, but i think i'll figure it out. I've been running around so much with the headlight retro, it's driving me crazy.

Happy to help man, make sure you get pics up when you're done. Are you putting in shrouds also?

I want to. I'm running MC-R's in the heads, so i'm looking for something smooth to match, that will also fit into the bowl.

You might have a tough time with that part. As far as I know TRS only has the mini gattling shrouds. Hopefully you can find another option! I'm excited to see yours come together

might have to "custom" something up for that , lol. I am taking a trip up to NJ in a few weeks to see the grandparents and friends from home, so i want to have it all done by then, but we'll see. Are the "Mini's" the only shroud they have that fits the blazers?

I think so, but to be honest, I really wanted gattling shrouds anyways so once I found out they made the mini shroud, I was sold and didn't ask a lot more questions
