    Hi all,
My 2014 base 4x4 came without fog lights. I purchased aftermarket fog lights that included a wiring harness and switch. I later realized that the wiring is already in place, perfect.
To save $100(price for oem switch in Canada) I want to use the aftermarket switch with my oem wiring.
The oem wiring to the switch plug has 4 wires, as does the plug for the aftermarket. Am I right to assume that I should be able to splice these together and have a working switch? If so, which to which??

Color coded, from top to bottom.
    OEM - W-BK / BL / G-W / G
    Non OEM - R / W-BK / R / BK

Unless someone has done this and just remembers, you're likely going to need to use a DVM and figure it out.

I guess the prewired OE harness plug won't fit the aftermarket switch?

    I have no meter.
    No, sadly they are different.
The green aftermarket plug I believe to be common with all aftermarket options, at least it appears to be the same.

The green and green/white make the switch light up when you turn your headlights on. That should help.

This is the wiring to the OEM fog light switch.

    Maybe this might help

IF YOU WANT TO USE OEM SWITCH:

    Included switch connector has:

RED connect to 1 (oem switch diagram on first page)
YELLOW connect to 4 (oem switch diagram on first page)
RED connect to 3 (oem switch diagram on first page)
BLACK connect to 2 (oem switch diagram on first page)[/QUOTE]

    From https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ebay-fog-light-kits-for-08-09-10-tacomas.51165/page-2

Okay, so I found the above info, what I derived from it was this:
    Green connected to red.
    White/green connected to black.
    White/black connected to white/black.
    Blue connected to red.

I plugged in my non oe switch to my newly connected green non oe plug, turned key to ACC and turned on my low beams. Fog lights work, they are bright and awesome! BUT.. the switch does not actually control them. The fog lights are only on when my low beams are on, they turn off when my high beams are engaged, but disengaging the push button switch won't turn them off, and there is no light emitting from the switch itself.

    Ideas??

And you can typically get 20-25% off those prices.

Not fancy, but good enough for small jobs like this.

The green and green/white are to illuminate the switch (stock). You should use the other 2 wires for power.

    Thanks for the help guys.
    I connected:
W-BK of oe to BK of non-oe plug, which should be ground.
BL of oe to W-BK, which should be to relay.
and tried different combination of G/G-W to R/R.
Fog lights work great, pushing switch turns them on and off as it should. But when connected in this manner it blows my 10A tail fuse.
I found that the 2 red wires of the non-oe harness connect together before they are supposed to tap into the in dash fuse box. Clearly the wiring/switches do not function in the same way.
I am clearly electrically challenged. Guess I will buck up the $100, unless someone can guide me definitively??
    Cheers

Is it possible the plug you are working with in truck was to support something else?

The oe plug? If it was for something else I wouldn't be able to get the fogs lighting up at all.
