foglight switch

I hate the OEM toyota switch that doesn't light when the lights are on. I know there are a ton of aftermarket switches available that illuminate when the lights are on. Will any illuminated switch do the trick if I replace it? I'd like to keep this as pain free as possible, pop out the OEM switch, pull the leads, attach to new switch, insert new switch, done.

Or ... is it not as easy as described?

 

I think folks swap in an FJ switch. Don't recall. Try a quick search.

 

Just throwing this out there since it's an idea I had and I suck at electrical work...

I know that the switch itself does have a light bulb in it that turns on when you turn on your headlights and dims with the rest of the dash. Couldn't you just find the wire that illuminates the bulb inside of the switch. Cut the wire and splice it into the wire that gives power to the bulbs? That way the switch will only illuminate when the fogs are on.

+1. The part number you need is PT297-35070-AS. Recommend perusing the multiple posts on this topic.

 

If you want the switch to just light up, then replace the bulb with part# 90011-01058 (did that with that switch and my rear locker switch- both where out when I bought the truck). If you want the double light - light on when dash lights are on and then a second light for when the switch is engaged then get the FJ switch listed above. With the FJ switch, I'm not sure if any additional wiring is needed.
