Anyone have/use an Instant Pot? I've heard really good things about it and took the plunge the other day. I've been saving ham bones in the freezer since thinking about my Dads Ham and Beans soup from when I was a kid. Figured I'd crock pot up a batch someday - 8-10 hours of cooking or so.

Got the Instant Pot in and thought it would be good to try it out. Found a recipe on line, tweaked it a bit (added some hickory smoked buckboard bacon I made and a few other things) and tossed it all in. 15 minutes later - yes, it only took 15 minutes - I turned it off and let it depressurize.

I honestly think it's the best tasting thing I ever made. Better than my smoked ribs or brisket. It was unbelievably tasty. My GF said it was like it had been in the crock pot for 12 hours. The ham was fall of the bone tender. We've taken to calling it the Miracle Pot. Not sure what's next on the menu but we're looking forward to it.

Hmmm.. I just checked them out on Amazon and it's through the roof as far as ratings and number of people who say it's the best thing since sliced zucchini. The 6 quart is the best seller. I added one to my cart just to remind me to check it out more when I have time.

Never used one but I might have to pick one up. 4.5 stars on Amazon from 18.5k reviews. That's pretty great.

My mom has the large Instant Pot.

It is legitimately amazing. I want one, but don't have kitchen space for it.

Looks like 6 quart is most popular but I think they go up to 8. Do you think the size of hers is overkill maybe? Of course it depends on what you do most, but the sweet spot of storage vs usage is a factor too.

I would personally get the 8. I hate when things are too small, so I'd rather have more room/versatility with an 8 quart, but if you can use a 6 quart crock and not be limited by it, then the 8 might not be a need.

When I was looking at buying one I couldn't decide between the 6 or 8 quart either. I pulled out my existing crockpot and saw that it was only 5.x something quarts and figured the 6 quart would work. When I made my ham and beans I could only use about 2/3 the amount of beans called for. 2 reasons; the ham bone took up a lot of volume and the instructions say when cooking beans to only fill the pot halfway (expansion), but I filled it three quarters and it worked out fine. I'm happy with the 6 quart. See the picture to get a sense of it's size. I added a bottle for scale.

As for storage, this will take the space of my crock pot (which goes to a friend). The Instant Pot has a slow cooker mode so you don't need both.

I have a 7.5 quart dutch oven and the thing is huge. I imagine an 8 quart IntaPot would be
Thanks much for the pic reference. Decisions decisions...

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I bought a deep fryer about 2 years ago just to have, but I've been afraid to open it , fearing once I start frying I won't stop. Well, finally broke it out when I got a strong craving for a shrimp po boy, glad I did!

Looks good. We do shrimp po boys every few months. That and my wifes Capt'n Crunch chicken tenders are about all it gets used for. Every now and then we do buffalo shrimp also. She wants to get one of those oil less fryers and try that out.

We got an air fryer recently. They're pretty awesome. Not as good as a fat fryer but nothing will be and my arteries might thank me.
