You couldn't hit an Igate in Denver metro?

When I hit you in Moab it looked like direct patch, though there were some Igates in town. I don't remember how to read that. We are really limited on APRS function and programming with our Yeasu radios, APRS is such a deep rabbit hole.

I thought the Yeasu was supposed to be pretty high end radio?

I have a cheap $115 Anytone, even with that, I was able to hit @Littles with decent clarity from 18 miles away in Moab.

They are talking about APRS which is still pretty new in HAM world. Basically only one Radio is built/ designed to do it well/ easier: Kenwood TM- D710 Series.

Oh I didn't know APRS was a new thing. I thought it had been around a while. Doesn't Brian have that Kenwood?

FTM-400 Yeasu, it has a very restricted/closed off TNC. I've though about adding an external running off the 2nd channel to get around it. Even the internal Kenwood TNC isn't as open as it could be. Next time I'll just buy any 2 channel radio and go completely external through my tablet

Any further non FORT related HAM stuff I'll kick answers over to the Colorado ham thread, sorry guys.

About how long does a ECGS install take? Is this a drop it off for a weekend thing or could I just wait and annoy the crap out of you while I watch you work?

It takes less than 2hours. As long as everything comes apart easily.
It’s something you can wait around for.

3rd member? I did one mostly by myself in a few hours in my garage. Just needed the wife and son to 1st. pull the axles when I pulled the 3rd member, I left the brakes on, and 2nd. to pullet axles when I re-installed the ECGS 3rd member. The weight of the 3rd member is the most difficult part. If you remove the brakes you can pull the axles out and they will stay in place, with the brakes on, the brake lines tend to pull the axles back in to the splines of the 3rd member before you can remove it. Hope this makes sense. Hope you're actually doing a 3rd member and I'm not just blowing hot air. :anonymous:

Added some tube to this 4runner bumper to make it a full front bumper. Also gave it an awesome look! CEF41102-1F98-47C6-858F-E51AE2B9B620.jpg
