Is this what you're referring to?:

"There is a small cover on the underside of the mirror. if you pop it off, there is a (allen) bolt i believe. all you have to do is tighten it up and it SHOULD fix the problem. im not saying it will, but it should..."

It's in a post prior to yours and I think this may be what you're talking about. Already done..

    Thanks,

    Rossi

I realized the issue is much worse with a hood deflector on. I guess the way the wind is deflected into the mirrors.

I tried it but didn't notice an appreciable difference. I've also tried two-sided tape behind the mirrors to tighten the fit. No luck..

Strange, my '10 doesn't do it any more than my 08 did... My JBL vibrates the hell out of it, and all of the mirrors though. +1 on the torx though, my 08 was rock solid after that. It didn't take much, I thought it was tight, felt tight, but after only about a 1/16th "over crank" on it... it stopped 90% of the vibe problem.

I cranked the shit out of those torx screws. Any tighter and I would have busted a tool (or the torx). Both dealers I visit are aware of the issue, as is Toyota. In fact, when I first started complaining to the dealer, they used to write up the mirrors, "Mirrors perform as designed." Now, after Toyota agrees they have a problem it gets written up, "Mirrors vibrate. No known fix." Toyota Customer Care tells me that this is a design flaw and not enough people are complaining...I make the dealer write the mirrors up every single time I go in. Toyota advised me to do that.

Are you sure you don't have some driveline vibration? Both of my mirrors made everything look like a blur at highway speeds until I got rid of the vibes, it's amazing what I can finally see on the highway now. Just a thought...

Not sure...I've had the issue since day one and its gotten considerably worse with no difference to me in vibration inside the cab. The dealer drove two brand new trucks off of the lot and they did the same thing.

How did you get rid of your vibration issue?

I dropped the carrier bearing down with 4 metric fender washers and slightly longer bolts to change the angle of the driveline. My truck is not lifted but between the vibes in the cab and constant drone sound on the highway I had to try something. Dropping it down got rid of 90% of my highway vibs and the droning sound in the cab, the unexpected benefit was my mirrors cleared up so I can tell what kind of car it is next to me not just see it as a blurry blob.

My dealer also told me my truck was operating within specs or some other BS

Thanks. I may drive a 2012 this week in the same configuration as mine.
