For better or worse, this is why I don't like buying domestic

If Toyota made a major powertrain upgrade, I'd trade my '16 Taco...

GM Twins get an update V6 and 8 speed auto

    http://blog.caranddriver.com/new-v-6-8-speed-automatic-lead-changes-for-2017-chevrolet-colorado/

Seems like the domestic automakers are always making (sometimes significant) updates to their vehicles during any generation of a model. I'd regret buying something when in 2-3 years a vehicle that looks just like mine will have a new powertrain or option that I'd really want.

Call me what you want, but I know that every single person who buys a Gen3 V6 Taco will be stuck with the same sh*ty engine/transmission for the next 9 years and will be in the same boat as me. For everybody that already has one, it protects your resale value. For everybody that's on the fence about getting one, you know a V8 isn't going to magically show up for '18 and you're not going to reget pulling the trigger now.

So whats the benefit other than an 8 speed hunting for gears ? 3 hp ?????
    New doesn't mean better.
You think old Colorado owners are running for this new engine ? Not me.
Now an 8 or much higher horsepower would raise an eyebrow, but I give this a smirk at best really.

The changes are clearly targeting increased mpg. The power figures are just to show that they increased mpg without hurting power. And they're quoting only peak power because they've tricked most buyers into thinking that is the important info.

Didn't mean to imply that only GM does it.

Yeah I know, I was just giving an example that I know. I am not sure of where the other trucks make peak power/torque but the tacoma peak power at redline is a classic example of why the number itself doesn't tell the whole story.

You know your opinion and that's it. Quit projecting your opinion as fact. Most people are happy with their trucks.

If my truck ever shows up then I'm going to run at redline as much as possible. I paid for 278hp, I'm going to use 278hp!!!

You guys bitch and moan about our 6 speed. The colorado i tested did the same shit. The 8 speed will probably hunt for gears indecisively even more like the one in my wifes renegade. Thats what these trannies do. The grass is always greener.

Zero is something you know quite well I am sure of...any hp or mpg increase is an upgrade....and while you are looking for your arse with both hands tell me is the "Metallic" color something you made up or what?...seems like you may have left off the color of the truck you probably dont even have...LOL

The duramax colorado I test drove had a much better drivetrain but the styling and interior suck.

Just got finished pulling 5000 lbs around this morning with the Taco, 0 issues. Have both, Tundra Pro and Taco as I stated before. And other Toyos too.
