    Ok this is how I see it.

    No matter if it was a computer error or a way to seal the deal, the consumer was offered something from the business and the business should honor that. If a computer error, then business needs to fix it. If it's the way the business tries to secure the sale, then they need to change their practices before they lose consumers.

    If this was a car dealership and they sent a message saying come on back in we will knock off another $250 to finalize the deal. Then you go in and get some line about it just being a computer system that sends this stuff, what are you going to do now?

    All that being said, the business has the right to refuse any sale they want, but there are repercussions with this now, hence this thread.

    Sending out emails for items left in cart is a common business practice. Additionally, it's also common practice to exclude coupon codes for items already on sale. I see no fault here except with the OP, pouting about $25 on an already heavily discounted item.

    The OP is a child who was just looking for a fight and people to jump on his bandwagon..

    You need to fix this, I would be pissed if I got this email asking me to come back and finish my order for x amount off and then I spend my time finishing the sale to take advantage of the most recent offer from your company, only to have you send me an email, saying sorry we used bait and switch on you, but are you willing to still give us money now that we have taken more of your time?

    Out of principle, i would tell you to pound sand.

    But based on what I read and how I feel you have chosen to take care of this customer, I can see how one would assume you put the screws to Cali, and by your response to the whole deal, it looks like either the law agreed or you knew it would.

    I have nothing to gain or lose in this deal, just an outsides view.

    I would respond to any company the same way, bait and switch kind of thing in my book. Simple answer to the problem, leave people to hell alone when they leave your store/web space.

    In my mind it is. They sent him a discount email to get him back to their store/dealership/marketplace, then he was told he could not have the deal they offered. They offered him something, then switched it.

    Again, fix the problem. Stop chasing customers down the street offering them a discount.

    Says it in the link. OP's fault for not reading. There was no switch, says coupon codes not valid....period.

    Bait and switch is when the product is swapped out, nothing to do with coupon codes...
