Ford F350 upgrade and maintenance log

So I've been looking for a minute to do to the Tacoma what it did to my 4runner which is to retire it from daily driving duty. In this case so it can get a turbo kit made and get repainted. After looking at some new and used cars and trucks I found this 2005 F350. So I'll post plans/updates later. So far I've only ordered a new radio and speakers.

Engine-
Updated coolant cap, OEM blue spring, MBRP stainless turbo-back, Riffraff oil filter cap, Airdog II-5G fuel pump, USA Diesel 185A alternator, FICMRepair Ultra w/40hp tune, Mishimoto coolant filter, S&B air intake.

Drivetrain-
Eaton Truetrac LSD, Banks rear diff cover, AFE front diff cover.

Suspension-
Bilstein 4600 shocks, EMF ball joints, Synergy MFG Track Bar w/adapter slug, Synergy MFG Heavy Duty Tie Rod, Synergy MFG Heavy Duty Heavy Duty Drag Link, Fox Steering Stabilizer.

Exterior-
Morimoto led 3rd brake light, Bullring tie downs.

Interior-
Kenwood Dmx129bt Head unit, JBL speakers

 

First mod on this stock truck is a Kenwood Head unit, was hard driving around w/o my music. I cleaned up behind the dashboard, I need new dashboard clips, 2, and will need a new dashboard panel as it's broken by the far right ac vent when I wire up for a backup camera. As the truck is stock and almost 20 it needs some attention. Current to do list for it is as follows.

New Bilstein 4600 shocks, new keys, jbl 6x8 speakers, new grill badge, new dorman 905-113 shifter, new clock spring/horn contact-need I need trouble shoot why cruise and horn do not work, morimoto 3rd brake light and new tail lights (anzo OEM vs recon led), xdp coolant cap, add aux upfiter panel, blue spring mod, 6.4 power stroke banjo bolts, mishimoto catch can, truetrac LSD, synergy mfg heavy duty steering kit, banks vs mbrp turbo back, fass vs airdog lift pump, new spicer u joints, and gauges.

 

So got a new updated OEM cap, cheap insurance at $8. Old one held pressure fine but idk the brand. Ordered a blue spring mod kit as it was on sale. @Torspd and I might also look into the upgraded kc turbo wheels.

 

I'm game at helping you spend your money.

Dashboard clip part number, couldn't find these anywhere.

The clips showed up and now the dash is happily retained.

Blue spring showed up, I'm waiting on the new billet filter cap to show up. Will also order some new fuel filters for peace of mind.

Did the headlight restoration. I think it help a little bit.

3rd brake light came in thanks to @memario1214

 

So my suspicion was accurate where the brake light blue was burned out. The housing itself was pretty rusty.

Inside of the cab was very clean. Weird.


What also did not make sense was the lack of carbo light bulbs.



Finished result is decent. I might need to invest in thee morimoto taillights.

New grill badge was delivered as well. I'll most likely install both the new badge, speakers, and blue spring tomorrow if the weather is nice.

Back door done. Same on driver side. Sound is so much better. Will pick up some fuel filters later for the blue spring install.

 

New shocks arrived.

New Bilsteins in.

Old shocks out, I think they're the originals. I ran outta energy and daylight so I'll do the fronts later. The rear shocks have MUCH more resistance than the old ones. Should help the ride and handling.

 

no pictures as the screen on my phone is only half working but i kinda fixed the driver side rear speaker as the oem connector had pushed the pins out of the speaker adaptor. i might have to order another set as no matter what the pins will not stay in place, however the speaker is working. I have also installed the front bilsteins. wow what a workout. the oem ranchos were JUNK, also the passenger side top bushing was installed wrong from the factory as it was pinched at an angle, but all the bushings were wasted. passenger side axle shaft seal is leaking a bit so it needs to be replaced but that'll be sometime next year. i am hoping tomorrow that i will be able to install the mbrp turboback.

I did find this rear bumper that i think looks pretty good and should offer better protection then the oem one.

 

Decided to do the blue spring after work.



So they don't want you to clean the maf. The stock intake while I understand it's construction, does not make taking it off suck any less. Will be looking at a new one for sure. Afe momentum vs s&b intake.

So going by the zip ties there is evidence that someone was here before. IDK what was done but there was work done. I was hoping that maybe the blue spring mod was already done however the casting on the cover indicates that it was not done. Only way to confirm is to pull the cover off.

Confirmed blue spring was not done.

A little clean and it's ready to be reinstalled. Rain is in the area and will pause installation until it passes.

 

Got a small break from the rain. Primed system no leaks, will reattach intercooler and intake and test the truck once the second rain has passed.

 

Just found this…I am for sure following along. Nice rig it’s cool to see you restoring so many parts of it back to new-ish.
