Ford F350 upgrade and maintenance log

My Ford performance warn hubs showed up. Downside is they are manual hubs. Up side is they are all metal vs plastic on the OEM one and it's black. So win

 

First long trip since the real modifications were done and the fuel mileage has improved. Last time when the truck was stock I get to satx to Houston and have between half and a 1/4 tank while driving around 3 hrs. This tike the traffic was absolutely horrible and took me 5 hours and I had over half a tank of fuel. So far very impressed.

One of the mains issues I've had with the truck was that using the horn will blow the fuse. After some diag I suspected that the horn itself was bad.






So this wasn't as easy as I had hoped but wasn't too bad. Main issue was that it wasn't plug and play even though it was the same brand as the OEM horns. So I test the horns individually to find the bad one so I could use the stock one on the first connection and cut the wires and convert to spade connectors. Works much better now.

battery died so I upgraded to a AGM battery.

 

Got this new vgt solenoid.


So far the truck builds boost much faster and there is less smoke. Happy with it.


Got the fox stabilizer installed and steering is much better.

 

So I installed 3/4 of the battery cables upgrade. It is not easy, but the hardest part is completed. I still need to install the driver side ground and the upgraded alternator to battery cable. That'll be another time.

Got new coolant hoses on @Torspd bmw and steering rack bushings on his Tacoma. Good weekend.

 

Certainly going to be sore for a few days. Nothing like summer sun and driveway wrenching.

Tried to change the tailgate emblem. Unfortunately the new has pins that are misaligned and are not level. Boo.






So I guess I'll get one from the local stealership.

So I'm guessing this is the trucks DOB.

Changed the coolant filter which might have been slightly overdue 2/2 the trip to Houston but it's swapped. Lots of casting sand in it. Most likely I'll get another one next month.

 

It'll be interesting to see the coolant filter, at the next change.

 

Maybe it'll run cooler without the mud. Lol. They sell a flush kit. I'll have to order one once payday come around.

One more plastic piece replaced. Many more to go.

 

Truck was being symptomatic (rpm flutter, surges at stoplight like I gave throttle.) for a bad ICP sensor but never had a cel. Based on it's behavior I suspected a bad ICP sensor vs ipr sensor. Considering the originality of the truck and the cost was about $150 I figured try it. So far it seems resolved. Also seems Ford updated the icp sensor as it has a slightly different part number.

On late 02-04.5 the icp sensor in located in the back of the engine. Newer 6.0 has it on passenger side valve cover.

Very easy job. Just need a pick and a 24mm wrench.

 

Went and saw the big boy when it was in Houston. Pretty cool. Truck returned about 21 mpg avg.



Installed new OEM badges. These were hard to get as they're discontinued. Driver side was easy to do, passenger side was not as easy but got an eraser wheel and got it prepped nicely.

Got the banks idash but unfortunately it will not work without the sixgun tuner and with my planned Canada tuning it would make the six gun a pointless purchase.

 

That's an impressive change on the F-350. Did you enjoy the bath changing the under side fuel filter LOL?

 

OK, I'm partially interested in what's here regarding Ford Trucks because I also own a 2016 Minnie Winnie built on a Ford E-350 chassis.
Understand that I am on my 3rd Jim Beam and sparkling water. But my question is: Why are these postings on the Tacoma Forum?

 

Got the air dog pump pretty much after I bought the truck so lucky I've deleted that pump and filter. So much better contentment. What I've learned is that with a bad ICP sensor the truck reverts back to a base configuration so it did smoke alot but was inconsistent.

I also own a 09 Tacoma, 06 4runner, and 97 RAV4 so figured I have enough Toyotas to get the Tacoma world platinum membership. The forums a good way to keep track of what I've done and when. Plus Tacoma world is the best forum, has good people on here, and doesn't have the ad overload like on powerstroke nation and others.
