    Thanks, glad you like it!

No major news. The beast is now registered and plated. Really need to replace the fuel tanks, but first have to let the funds recover a bit.

Probably moving on to YJ steering soon once the weekends free up.

No major updates, just some small stuff. Tacoma clutch pedal gained some extra free play a couple weeks ago. Looks like the master cylinder spring decided to become four.

    20221022_112026.jpg

Installed a new master earlier today. Probably going to get a rebuild kit for the old one and throw it in the spares pile. Who the hell thought putting the master cylinder in the cab was a good idea?!

Ain't no room in the engine bay under the brake master

Tacoma. Clutch lines are to the right of the brake master

    20221023_195238_HDR.jpg

YJ. Clutch master is in the engine bay, wedged behind the brake master and next to the ECU. (disregard aftermarket houses running above it)

    20221023_195105_HDR.jpg

    Tacoma has arguably more room.

My best guess is ease of manufacture. This way the entire clutch pedal assembly can be bolted in as one unit in the factory, vs having to connect a clutch linkage through the firewall. As an engineer, it makes sense. As a tinkerer, I still think it's dumb.

Dumb until you need that space for something else. Then you'll be bitching about why the clutch master is in the way..... (this is a daily occurrence in the shop)

Nah, I still think it's dumb. It makes sense in my brain how it could have been more serviceable without impeding on anything in the engine bay, but it would have been more costly to build.

But I only have to work on this one, not every damn vehicle that rolls through the shop

If they made dashes easier to work around or remove then it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Having to do back bends to work under a dash in the weirdest position sucks!

Talk to Congress. They mandate airbags for your knees and elbow hairs, they mandate so much crumple space per cabin cubic foot, etc etc.

    Cafe Law is bs too.
The C word can't do anything either being deep on the corp pocketbook. Just look up CAFE Law for example. They negotiate terms, not enforce them.

If you wanna talk more on this subject, hop over to the discord. I'll reply when I get off work.

It was fine in that regard: worked from the ground through the open door. Just not a lot of room to maneuver. Couldn't really wear gloves, either.

At least the passenger side on Toyotas is really easy to take apart and get to.
