This was covered with OP in post 74 on page 4 of this thread. I realize most people dont want to read through 22 pages, but the advice has been given and now the OP will have to work his way through a resolution that works for him.

Alright, just got the call from the dealership and they are going to replace the motor with a motor w 9000 miles on it.
They pulled the oil filter and there were brass, aluminum and some other pieces of metal in it. Also looked into a cylinder and saw some scratches.
Per the service manager, Toyota doesn't sell a long block. So they are getting the other engine and going through it before installing it in the truck.
Again, thanks for all of your help. Jared

It does happen though, especially at smaller dealerships when its a slow day. If the dealership only has one lube tech working and he's busy they will give the job to another tech that has nothing to do.

This happened to one of the master techs at a dealership I use to work at. He was doing doing a scheduled maintenance on a higher mileage t100 or first gen with a 3.4, he drained the oil first then did some other stuff but forgot to add oil at the end. 5-10 minutes later I see this customer hauling ass back down our private street with a red face and the RPM's pinned. After hearing some mumblings from other angry techs I learned what happened. They were mad because the tech that forgot to add oil got the rebuild job.

:benchpress:Good deal man! I'm sure it's a good motor with 9k and if anything is wrong they will make it right.

Glad to hear they are going to swap one in for you, new would have been ideal but an engine with 9k is better than what's in there now!

Sounds reasonable providing the used motor wasn't ejected out of the truck in a total.

He has a truck with 15,000 miles on it already, the used motor is newer than the truck.
