This is why I get mad at Toyota sometimes.
I've been driving Toyotas for too long to change brands and have to deal with them breaking down.

Its not so much that the Tacoma has issues, its Toyota's complete disregard for them. Problems that have carried over from the 2nd gen and owners getting treated like shit at the dealer trying to get things resolved.

As a counterpoint, my other vehicle is a Subaru and I've been notified three times of fixes for issues that have been identified that I wasn't even aware of. Hell, they were replacing cracked windshields or reimbursing people that had because there *might* be an issue. Think Toyota would do that?

Wow, it sounds like Chevy is actually willing to help their customers.

You do know that Toyota has a huge stake in Subaru right?

This means nothing. You can find a similar thread about any vehicle made, on every forum. Having owned both a 17 Tacoma and a 16 Canyon, I had no reliability issues with either truck. My Tacoma shifted constantly at highway speeds and got shitty mileage, but it never went in for repair. I traded it for a diesel Canyon and love that truck. I'm pretty sure if you search lemon law on both sites, you will find way more posts on this forum dealing with lemon law, than the GM twins. Mostly because there are way more people on this forum than the Canyon forum. I'm on both forums, and I see way more people on here trading their 3rd Gen's in because they are unhappy, than people trading the GM twins in because they are unhappy. Stop being a fanboy and realize neither truck is perfect, or terrible. If all GM and Ford did was make shitty products, no one would buy them. There are plenty of people out there that have put 200K miles on their Chevy, Ford, and on their Toyota.

This is the crap that shocked me when I've taken it in. It's either 'you're imagining the issue'
or it's not there and if it is it's 'by design'. Even when emailing Corp. about the issues and
complaints they haven't even bothered to reply.

They used to build the "extra" Camrys at the Subaru plant in Lafayette, IN for a long time.

I've worked supplying pretty much every one of the major automotive companies except Hyundai and Kia. They all have issues no matter what folks want to think.

I will say this... we were launching the Lincoln Towncar (yep, I'm old as I know that's not even built anymore) and the lead engineer said something that I'd never heard or thought I would hear from a lead engineer at one of the big boys:

"Don't worry about that... we'll fix it in production."

Keep in mind that the Towncar was the flagship of the entire Ford division. All my launches at the Japanese suppliers had the mindset to fix it before launch. They may have had design issues... but at least they never took the approach of just letting it fly and hoping to fix it later.

I am not brand loyal, I want reliability, I had a 2004 Colorado that looked brand new and would still probably have it if someone did not hit it. If maintained any truck will last as long as the parts are out there. I think people need to realize that we all make the best choice we can when we are make a decision to buy a vehicle. They all have their own positive elements it just all come down to what you need.
