So today I stopped at the grocery store on my way home from work to pick up some things. As I was swinging into my parking space I see what looks like a wallet laying on the ground. I pick it up and see that there is obviously cash inside as well as this guys drivers license, bank cards, retired air force id, and some other things. To be honest I thought to myself for a split second, "I could hop in my truck and drive away $80 richer right now". But that's not how I was raised. I realized that if this was my wallet I would hope someone would turn it in so I could have it back. So I went into the Safeway and found a manager and gave it to him. Hopefully the guy gets his wallet back.

Guys name was Walter Lee. Older looking black gentleman. Doubt if he is a member here but hey you never know.

That had crossed my mind, but I didn't want to be in possession of that wallet for any length of time. To me it's best to keep the wallet in the area it was found. I'm sure Safeway can find him with his info on his Safeway card account too.

I also had flashbacks to that show, I think it's on ABC called "What would you do?" Driving away with it makes you "look" guilty.

Good man, wish there were more people like you out there, reminds me this past winter i found a brand new iphone at a ski resort in the snow on a trail, i gave it to the lifty working at the bottom to put up for if anyone asked for it, he kinda smiled at me like he got a new phone, kinda pissed me off i just hope he ended up doing the right thing with it.

This is why I made sure to hand it to a manager. I go to this Safeway all the time and most of the cashiers are very nice and have worked for there for years but I still feel better giving it to management. I'm pretty sure he did the right thing though, I heard him page the customer over the intercom after I gave it to him, so that made me feel better about giving it to him.

I found a wallet at a university once on top of a silver tacoma and I turned it into the main office. Next day i was at Walgreens and went to use the ATM and their was a $20.00 bill where the machine dispenses the cash. There was no way to tie who the 20 dollars belonged to so i just thought it was good karma and used it to buy some pizza that night :)

If you have doubts if other people will do the right thing, you could just send the wallet in the mail by the address on his id. my sister inlaw did that and put a note saying they used the money to pay for shipping, the guuy was greatful to have his wallet back. Sometimes people are shady, but good job on doing the right thing.

x2, losing your wallet is completely different from losing a bag with $17k in it, sorry, I'd have to weigh my options with that one.

Good job Meng. Good Karma will be coming your way.

I found a set of keys to a mini cooper on campus once. All it had was the car key and an LA Fitness membership. I drove 30 min to the nearest LA Fitness to drop off the keys so they could be returned to its owner.

I came home and there was a $5000 check for me on my desk. My mom said it was for school. :D
