About 3 weeks ago I bought a 2008 TRD off road DC. The check engine light was on, got it checked and code was for the MAF. I has a K&N CAI and heard that it can cause the check in light to come on, so I didnt think much about it. It drove good as far as I could tell.

So today I decided to clean MAF sensor and throttle body when I took it apart this I found signs that water had gotten inside intake. Had all fluids checked before buying no water signs in them....so is there anything else I need to do as a precaution, preventative maintance to check if anything is going to fail as a result....

Mods are currently being changed .....
Is it from water, or Oil from the K&N filter?

Mists of water wouldnt necessarily harm anything, its when excessive amounts get in and lock the motor up. You can always change the oil and plugs if you're concerned.

clean your filter, that much dust and debrie should never be inside your intake. Water marks included

This was caused by going through deep water, I have since cleaned it and replaced the K&N with an AFE dry filter. The truck seems to drive fine just wanted to know if I needed to do or LOOK at anything else specific to insure further damage will not be done due to water gettting into manifold. All fluids have been checked and changed.

when you wash your K&N, do you dry it completely before oiling and driving?

my buddy didnt, and he had moisture build up. not as much as the photos, but some. i hate those K/N's

I am sure there are no worries. Just clean it well and check it in a day or so to make sure there is not water coming in from somewhere. If it is just a mist then it should not hurt the engine. The engine can be ruined by water as it does not compress, so stay out of it if you can/want to. Good Luck JOE>
