    Lift spring is always better.

With a stock spring it gets preloaded when moving up notches. If the stock spring is worn, then you get varying results.

Will a Dobinsons spring fit on this shock? It would be nice to pair a red Dobinsons lift spring and combine it with this shock. I like that this shock is linear and would likely feel softer on the commute than the 5100/6112 and maybe a little less expensive vs the other Fox options.

This was the idea I had and contacted dobinsons about it. I was told since their springs are made to fit like oem they would work. My plan is to get a lift spring from them and leave the clip on the stock/0" setting.

The rear is stiff because it's a truck with leaf springs and you added another leaf. Add some weight is really the only option.

I'm only looking for an inch-1.25" lift on the front. The pricing will be roughly the same if I piece together the snap ring kit (buying red Dobinsons 1 inch lift springs and paying to have the shocks paired with the springs) vs just buying the 2.0 performance series coilover from Fox. I'm pretty sure it's the same shock except one has a snap ring adjustment and the other has a fully adjustable collar. I am a set it and forget it type when it comes to the suspension. The fully adjustable collar isn't valuable to me. I am more concerned about on road ride quality with this setup vs the on road quality of a 5100 or 6112 Bilstein setup.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is what the Ranger Tremor has under the front. I doubt if Ford is installing the adjustable collar 2.Os that they sell under the Ford Performance brand.

On a Tacoma I think I'd go with the 2.5 Foxs, or the Bilstein 5100s. Maybe these Foxs and the taller Trail Edition springs, on something like an SR.

Just curious, did you ever find out how these ride on the road compared to 6112s? I'm looking for a softer on road ride with good controlled dampening. Not much lift for me 0-1" max in front.

I went with the 6112s, no complaints. I am between 1 and 1.5" in the front (older style setting 4/3). I think the 6112s handle better than stock, but it's not an overly cushy ride. I would say it's really similar to the firmness I had with the stock sport suspension. I did an AAL in the rear with to give a small 1 inch lift with the topper.

I was looking for a more plush ride, but decided that I didn't want to spend the money for it when I really don't offroad much. The 6112s ended up being the best bang for my buck

Thanks man. I wish I could get a ride in a Tacoma with 6112s and one with Fox 2.0s. Ride quality is just so subjective. I'm leaning towards the Fox 2.0 circlip style ones, run stock springs at the stock height setting or maybe 1" up front and do half inch in back with a 1 degree axle shim. That just leaves the question of the ECGS bushing. My truck has some minor vibes in stock form that I'm hoping to resolve.

I might go for a test drive at the dealer in a TRD OR because I can't remember how those ride and finding takeoffs of these is very easy and cheap. I think they ride soft but can be bouncy and not dampened/controlled that well.

You're welcome. Ride quality is very subjective. I think the 6112s are very controlled. I'm curious if the Fox 2.0s are more plush, but I doubt it. I would buy they 6112s again if I started over.
