So far, from what I've understood its better to just to keep your frame clean and somewhat rust free is to just once a month or once a week, spray down your frame with water from a garden hose. Since were still waiting on the updates from toyota.

Depends where you are I guess. In Arizona, Southern California, Texas that might be all you have to do. In places where the roads are salted, best thing is to get the frame and panels sprayed with light machine oil every year or two. Some companies: Krown, Rust Check, Fluid Film. They are all essentially the same.

Not a lot of corrosion happens in the winter when the temperature is below zero science degrees. It happens quite rapidly when the temperature gets above 7 degrees and the underside of the truck is still coated with salt because you haven't washed it since February.

I'm building my next car... To hell with all this. 33K for a truck that has been nothing but annoying and structural issues.

Dude my username indicates I have a 2012 TRD version Tacoma.

To be fair here I could have done under 20 as well, but I wanted brand new. It was my very first brand spankin' new vehicle.

Gotta admit...the idea of the frame rotting out being possible on stuff this new does little to shore up my faith in Toyota quality. Is common to see 10 year old or less Chevy trucks around here with bedsides flapping in the breeze and cab corners MIA but even with that stuff the frames seem to hold up decently. Fords and Dodges are almost as bad but don't have the frame issues either.
Do have a coworker who just discovered that the gas tank support crossmember is rotted through on his 98 Silverado but it is a 250K mile complete POS with about 40% of the body gone so it seems fitting somehow.

I used to have a GMC canyon 04 175000 miles frame rotted out and I took very good care of it when I bought it with 30000 miles.
GMC did absolutely nothing for me, at least Toyota tries to help out.

It seems like all the truck brands have rotting out frames and bodies. The chemicals they put on the roads for snow and ice is a lot worse than in the old days.

We call it napalm... The wife commutes 45 miles one way to work. I just get her a new Subaru Outback every five years. No amount of soap and elbow grease can save them when you drive every day of winter through the crap. I keep the taco washed and FF'ed. The new tundra lives inside a heated shop all winter. I can't bring myself to run a $43k truck on the salt. Seems like trucks go up $10k every five years. Makes me puke. If I raised my hourly rate in my company that much I'd have no work. When they do it we line up like sheep to sign the note.

While I agree with the notion, Toyota isn't doing that out of the goodness of their hearts. It all stems from them losing a class action lawsuit on essentially the same trucks with the same frames. That forced them into a corner resulting in millions of dollars spent on buy backs, frame treatments and replacements. Not trying to bash Toyota by any means but they are no less of a corporation driven by bean counters and liability lawyers than the rest. The frame treatment isn't just a nice thing Toyota is doing. It's intent is to extend the life of the frame just long enough to outlive the timeline under which they could be held liable for frame replacement at a far higher cost.

The only reason Toyota owned up to the frames is that the big three made them pay for it due to the threat of competition. Same as the floor mat bullshit. The only way the big three even come close is in court.

WOW! I think you mean released and not resealed though. When I think of "sealed", I think of Area 51.
