So this is the newest, latest, greatest CRC frame treatment by Toyota. What a fucking joke!! I’m willing to bet that my frame will rust through before the 2026 deadline.F1EC9A68-CB33-46BB-B67F-55D6CFCA0A6A.jpgB4E7C466-9879-499A-9FFA-E7C4E1CCE67E.jpg 9FB677B4-FDB6-4E79-BBC7-0361A2CDC774.jpg

I am not bothering with that shit. Fuck them Fluid Film every year for the win, I'm not worried about my frame rotting. That shits a joke, why bother?

Looks like spunk. So they don't even bother coating the entire frame?

They sprayed the inside of it with a waxy substance and blocked off the holes. It's not Ideal but it seems like they are addressing the most problematic areas that they see failing, of course they won't do more than they absolutely need too. I will continue fluid filming my undercarriage to keep it rust free...

Actually the stuff is quite good where it's applied but, for Toyota it's just an other band aid for poor frame design and or frame material choice. Seen this stuff used on a VW engine compartment and fender support cavities I once had and never saw rust where it was applied.

I took mine in last week and had similar result (actually your looks better buck). I took it as great they gave me plugs and a cap for the main crevice. I went and bought a grinder wheel, paint and fluid film. Time to roll up the sleeves.

I wouldn't blame it on poor design and / or material choice. There's nothing exceedingly different about the frame design / geometry and the material is steel - just like everybody else. The big problem is the finish specifications. A few more bucks spent on a more corrosion resistant finish would be money well spent if you live in a state where they use road salt. For folks who live in states where they don't use road salt, all of this is a moot point.

Anytime your have to laminate a frame with welded in plates of steel brackets to gain strength there's something wrong somewhere with your design. I suspect the added brackets are there to pass US crash test. All those brackets attract moisture to the seams and between the laminates. I notice the air condition drain hose came through the fire wall and was routed to exit right above the right frame rail. So whether you live in the north or south, east or west coast you'll eventually see rust develop on the right frame rail. How much would it cost Toyota rout the air conditioning drain around and to the bottom of the right frame rail? I did it to mine for the cost of about a foot of tubing. How long has the Toyota Tundra and Tacomas had a frame rust issue? Doesn't it go back to the 1st generation Tundra? Toyota seems to be trying to address it with band aid fixes and not addressing the choice of steel material, design, and or manufacturing processes.
I'll pay close attention to my frame as long as I own it and touch it up with Eastwood Amber Rust Preventive and Fluid Film.
Any of you remember the 1st generation uni-bodies and how bad they rusted out after a few years. If manufactures didn't change their manufacturing processes we'd still be dealing with premature rusted uni-bodies and we wouldn't have Rav4s that seem to last forever.
